Heavy Metal, is, shit.

Amusing thing about this debate is people would be surprised by some of the bands that are listed or defined under the Heavy Metal genre that Sabbath pretty much started.

Sure there's quite a few listed here that many would like and never in a million years class as Heavy Metal.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_heavy_metal_bands

I quite like a fair bit of stuff by both but Hanoi Rocks and Killing Joke as heavy metal is a bit of a stretch.

*burns Killing Joke records*

Are the heavy metal is shit comments serious?
Yeah.  In a crowd of 30k how many do you think are going to be into Magadeath?  A pretty low percentage I suspect.

But it always seems to me that metal fans punch above their weight when it comes to internet forums and certainly on debates about football music.

How many do I think would be into Megadeth? Not many. But does that make the entire genre 'shit'? No.

There are lots more Metal bands than Megadeth. And there are many different types of Metal than the type of stuff Megadeath make.

Most people are not into music as a hobby anyway let alone Metal so the chances are they will have a very ignorant and uninformed perception of what the genre is like (probably the most extreme sounding vocals and music you can think of) because they haven't heard much. Saying it's 'shit' would be ridiculous.

'Tallica are great, first headliner I ever saw at a festival in 2006 and they blew me away performing Master of Puppets album on the 20th anniversary of it coming out.

I was trying to remember if Gregory when he was manager wore a hat with their name on during a game but think it was actually Thunder.

well, you make a spirited argument but the major flaw in it is that...

Heavy Metal, is, shit.

There were quite a few bands listed in that clicky link that I would definately class as rock or in some cases even soft rock as opposed to heavy metal.

Can we try to come to some majority opinion on this minor debate as soon as possible so we can get back the the main reason we all come on here and finally define what is and what isn't an actual biscuit.

Killing Joke are not, never were and never will be a heavy metal band.

I blame Oasis for such nonsense.

Metallica are excellent. One of my favourite heavy metal bands, up there with Sabbath and Killing Joke.
