The Quorn Hunt at this point would sound "gone to earth".

Since the creation of the premiership, has football lost its working class identity, and have football fans lost there working class roots. Have we been brain washed, and socially engineered ??
I think you have.

This thread reminds me of one of my favourite quotes from Tenpole Tudor:
"Because it was just a good idea to be a nice guy and he will definitely keep the good news from all your recent comments."

In fairness, there's no doubt that football has become much more corporate since 1992 (similar to other sports) and it'd be intersted to know how much average ticket prices have increased as a % against inflation - my guess is it's quite a lot.

You can only imagine what these figures at London clubs would look like.

Seriously I couldn’t give a toss what class you are. Just get down the fucking ground and support the team.

Another great quote, this time from the quiet one in the Pet Shop Boys:
"The only problem is that it has been such an amazing experience and I think I can find the right time to make a new man."

It is a thread that could probably go on for some time, but there was definitely a shift in the 90's, with Euro 96 being a major part of that change.  I think the general decrease in violence in and around grounds was another factor in that, but as I said it is a pretty weighty topic.

If we are talking about being brainwashed I think we need look no further than anyone who describes themselves as working class could ever think about voting fucking Tory.

Not when you think of the alternatives.
