Chester and Terry were fantastic tonight. Can't remember the last time I watched a villa game and felt totally confident we would get the three points in the second half.

yeah. totally solid i thought. Nice to see all the "terry is making chester crap" bobbins consigned to the rubbish bin

I do like Terry's tactic of fouling somebody and giving the impression he has accidently stumbled into them.

onwards and upwards
we all know that Bruce is here to do a job. Get us promoted.
He (I think) is not acclaimed as the next shankly, Busby ,or Saunders.
Do the job
if he looks like faltering or not up to it, get rid.
I did not want him,  but I accept if he is doing his job hold fast.
It might take more than one away win to convince me.
Win some more, play with a determination to win and you will be doing your job.

I quite like taking the sting out of their 'hilarious' dig of calling us the Vile. Although I'm never sure whether they just genuinely don't know how to spell Villa. They should do the amount of times they mention us. I quite like us being the pantomime villain (no pun intended) when they are just a pantomime.

Feels a lot better!

Not great first half but generally solid, and posed an attacking threat all game. The 442 trade off - less quality possession but more threat. Shouldn't forget first two goals were v lucky and they were better team first half

This was all about the spine: Terry and Chester / Whelan / Davis

Ratings:

Johnstone 7

Elmo 7
Chester 7
Terry 8
Taylor 6

Snodgrass 6
Whelan 7
Hourihane 6
Adomah 8

Davis 8
Kodjia 6

I'd play 4-4-2 for the next few weeks.

With key players fit again for the final third like Kodjia and Adomah we can overpower teams at the back.

Look again at the formation when we play Wolves and Fulham who can keep the ball.

Seems right. The penalty came at exactly the right moment really. Terry & Chester were superb. I wouldnt underestimate Kodjia's impact though. Although he didnt score he is a bit like Benteke in the way teams just cannot afford to ignore him because they know what will happen. I also think he was not offside for the Davis through ball.

We were average. Got lucky for the first two and then it was game over. Confidence grew as time went on.

Adomah was good, Terry was good, Johnstone too.

Hopefully a bit of confidence will go a long way. We need to win next week.

Can't remember the last time we went in 2 up after such a dismal 1st half. We just couldn't keep the ball, 19% possession is dreadful.

But better 2nd half and ended up comfortable winners. Keinan very good and great to see him score his 1st goal. Still a long way from turning the corner, but win the next 3 league games, which we can, then I might start believing

How was the second lucky? Penalty all day long for me. If it had been the other way around, I'd have held my hands up and said the defender can't be going in like that.

Have to say Terry was outstanding. He really seems to be settling in here and at this level now. First game for ages where I knew we wouldn't concede.
