Possibility of bigger squads for the Euros in case of covid outbreaks.

Could be good news for the likes of Ollie and Konsa.
I'd add Jack to that list. Everything Southgate says and does suggests to me he'd struggle to find a place for Jack in his 23. Why take him when you could have Dier and Philips?

I suspect Jack Grealish could do a better job of playing the role intended for either Dier or Philips than the players themselves.

Not that it will count for anything, as if they are fit, then I expect Southgate will find places for Dier,  Henderson, Rice and Philips before he even contemplates someone who can make a forward pass to a teammate.

It seems as though Jack has to play himself into selection all over again.  Good news for us if it is indeed the case. Southgate can't be that stupid to think that in the game like last night's Jack wouldn't  have been the answer to the lack of creativity England had in attack?

Aside from that, I thought that Kane didn't offer much.  Okay, he didn't get great service but he didn't appear to work that hard either.  His coming deep to get the ball is an odd one as well. If that doesn't tell Southgate there is something lacking in the team that makes Kane want to do that then nothing will.

Interesting discussion on Sky tonight. Carragher and Neville adamant Grealish is a certainty for the squad with the former having him in the team for the first game too.

Just switched over for the final few minutes of the England v Canada Womens friendly just in time to see a howler of tremendous proportions from the England goalie.

How is it even theoretically possible to lose to Canada at football?

They're joint eighth in the world and have been bronze medallists at the last two Olympics (a much bigger deal in women's football than in men's), so it's hardly a disgrace.

The Olympic draw has been made.

Men's teams can pick only three over-24 players so Douglas Luiz is very likely to be in the Brazil squad. They play Germany, Ivory Coast and Saudi Arabia in the Group Stage.

The women's event is not age restricted. Mana Iwabuchi will probably be called up to hosts' Japan's squad. They face Canada, Great Britain and Chile.
