From the bits of streaming and those highlights -

I like the look of Doyle-Hayes, wins the ball, plays simple passes accurately and with a bit of zip, holds his position well.  He's doing pretty much everything we bought Whelan for, add in Lyden who I also rate and Jedinak and they make that signing look unnecessary, I hope he doesn't become another one on big money that we can't get rid of.

De Laet played a cross for the 4th that Hutton couldn't even imagine, yes it was poor defending but if you're crossing from that angle you have to get defenders playing facing their own goal and force the mistakes.

Hogan will score if you get the ball to him around the box with half a yard of space and his movement is good enough to make the space but we need to improve our ability to find him, his first was a good cross though and played to his strengths well.

For their goal De Laet sold himself very cheap (that was the only obvious sign he was out of position I saw) but what the fuck was Elphick doing backing off and giving him space to pick his spot?  Terrible defending and something he was guilty of last season as well.

Agree with all the sentiments above but the vibe that came from Hogan to Holte was that he was making .a point. Two goals against Wigan is a start.  Long may it continue. It has been a long time coming.  I can live with looking at the backs of goal scorers.

I should hope he was making a point. I should hope he's got an attitude and an approach that says he can do it and I also hope that he gets the right opportunity from the set-up we adopt and keeps scoring every time he plays.

Stating the obvious surely. What suggests otherwise re his attitude ?

Doyle-Hayes looked good last night. He has a change of pace about him and isn't afraid to move the game on.

That was the big difference between us and them, the extra hears we moved the ball at in the final third. Lots of movement and intent first half, could and should have had more.

There was something reassuringly straight forward about it. Very unlike us.

Shout out to the M6 north between J12-13 being closed down to 1 lane with no fucker working on it.

Good morale boost - but Wigan made 11 changes so no more than that

Clark battled really well, but it was Doyle-Hayes' very accurate first time forward passing that really impressed me.

O'Hare was great in the first round but gave the ball away a lot here. I mean A LOT

Good Hogan goals but no way should he be in ahead of Davis at Bristol

Barny still not convincing me. There was one point where Hogan played a perfectly paced ball to put him through one on one, but his first touch went about 10 feet straight to the keeper

Notable that despite the encouraging youth, all four of our goals were really down to the established players

Overall I don't think anyone was so good they're demanding to be in the first team, but de Laet at RB (bad mistake at CB), Adomah and hogan knocking on th the door

That might be the case, but it's wrong that he's castigated when he's had a decent game.

Notable I agree but I think it's also worth noting that in the 2 massively improved performances we've had a much better mix of youth and experience than we had during most of the shitty run either side of the summer.  That was also true in pre-season where the games with more youth players were far more encouraging than the ones with mostly first teamers.  Younger players, in general, will be more positive in their play and be a bit more energetic and by retreating into picking the most experienced side he could Bruce made us look tired and unfit.

That's the real lesson he needs to learn.
