There's a fair few stories around today that Gerrard is planning on bringing Davis back into the squad for next season and doesn't want to sell him. I'm ok with that, I think he'd give us an option to play a very different way and I suspect we'd be looking at big money to sign someone who offers what he does with a good goalscoring record and no injury concerns.

Given Gerrard chucked our current strike force under the metaphorical bus last night for not putting away their chances, I'd be astounded if he thought Keinan was the answer.

It won’t happen, but I think a Davies Ings partnership could flourish.

Kevin? He must be knocking on a bit by now. It's a no, from me.

I like Keinan. To be honest, it's all down to fitness. We now seem to have the ability to play two up top and actually Davis + Ings/Watkins is probably going to work better than Ings + Watkins. He would bring people into play. He wouldn't score many, but the trade off might be that one of the other strikers gets more, or one of our mids running from deep. We shall see. If he's back up to a new signing, someone mobile but who can also hold it up, then great. I do think we need a new marquee front man. On the proviso we're going to be two up top for a significant amount of the season, then New Incarnation of Drogba/Watkins/Ings/Davis is a good quartet. I'd give Archer one more season in the champ, ready him fully for the season after.

We should go for Tent Alexander-Arnold.

It's an interesting one.

He's largely started every week for them so problem bringing him back and just giving him 5-10 minute cameos is he'll lose rhythm and start picking up injuries.

Another point is not every fan at VP will probably be following his loan like we do on him so I think a fair few will be nonplussed in August if fans are promised a european challenge and he's our starting striker.

I also don't see how we can give him and Archer serious minutes next season and yet keep two 30m  strikers happy on the bench so can only see it working if we sell Ings and that's probably a big gamble at this stage as he is at least proven in the prem (just not for us).

I'd say it comes down to Kienan more. Can't believe he'd be happy just coming back to sit on the bench after his six months at Forest so he'll push for a move imo if they come up and ultimately it's going to 10m for a squad player and that would be very tempting for the board and Purslow to collect as it's something we're not as strong at doing as other clubs who finish above us.

Just looking on a site called Soccer Souls and it has the Villa 2022 salaries list and it made me wonder how accurate these things are?

It doesn't have any details of Coutinho, so is showing the top earner (by some distance) to be Danny Ings on £120k per week.

The reason for posting on this thread is that it has Keinan down for £45k per week (£2.34M pa)! and then you go further down to find John McGinn earning £25k per week.

Can't be right, surely?

Well Davis is English and McGinn is from a slave State so for me it's about right.

Some Twittalk that we've priced Davis out of a move to Forest and they've turned their attentions to a striker in Germany. Mind you, according to Percy, they're happy to shell out £17.5m for this chap (Taiwo Awoniyi, plays for Mainz). I wonder what we're asking for Keinan.

If they need a good striker for the Premier League, who stays fit and scores goals, then Davis isn't the man.
