Were the fans dicked about when the original owners decided to name a football club Aston Villa?

How is changing the name to something less tedious and unoriginal "dicking the fans around"?

Always difficult to predict first game of the season so I'm going for a 1-1 draw.

Well it's not if you have absolutely no sense of history and tradition.

Tight defence, limp attack (sounds like an advert for KY Jelly and Viagra)

Can only see a 0-0

It better be a straight forward win Mr Bruce nothing else will do. 2-0

How on earth should the first game of a new season, injuries being a factor, against anyone be straight forward, purely because our remit long term is promtion?

If we don't win 2-0 and comfortably we should sack him straight away?

For the record I see 1-1 and we build on that.

Well it's not if you have absolutely no sense of history and tradition.

I was talking about Hull. They have no history or tradition. They'd be better changing their name and having a new start. About 90% of clubs have changed their name at some point. Presumably they all abandoned their "history and tradition" and nobody should support them any more?

Clubs like Villa, Wednesday, Forest, Hotspur, and so on, have interesting names and should keep them. Boring Uniteds, Citys, and Towns should change. The English language has hundreds of thousands of words, there is no need to be so pathetically unoriginal.

Nothing else will do certainly alludes to that.
