Rooney just returned one into the net from his own half from a bad clearance by the goalie.

Most goals from that distance are a speculative lob/hoof but Rooney absolutely drilled that one. Superb technique.

Good pen save by Pickford
What a goal, that's some strike. That's the best long range shot I've seen.

Interesting that Everton have gone for Allardyce and soon as they are in trouble.  I say it is interesting as it is the type of choice we didn't make when we began to struggle.
Everton  have made an under stress decision and  these are the sort of decisions that permanently debilitate clubs for a long period to come. At the start of the season they were seen as the next Spurs but now they are looking at just surviving as reflected by this appointment. Welcome to the basement Toffees.

These views that it would be good to win the Championship and not get promoted, I simply don't get. So you're saying, you want to see us permanently in a crap division. If you have any ambition at all, you want to be in the best league in the world, the Premier League.

Looking at it on video, does seem to take a deflection off the ref. But would probably still have gone in.

The best League is the Championship. It’s competitive and exciting rather than desperate  and oppressive like the Premier. Where there are about 6 teams terrified of not qualifying for Champions League, same 6 terrified of qualifying for the Europa League and remaining 14 terrified of being relegated. It’s League where as a manager you either have to be a super duper coach on a short leash or a survival specialist on an even shorter leash.

I agree and understand where you're coming from. I have enjoyed playing in this division because of the sheer honesty (apart from the ineptitude of the referees). The EPL is overhyped bullshit it's all fake dramatics. Only four teams can win it (Leicester was a blip that won't happen for another ten years at last) I enjoy going to the match now because we have the chance of winning, unlike our last three years in the EPL when I had no confidence, and "just went". I feel that we have turned the corner and are regaining our pride. But we need to get back into the EPL to compete with the best. Until we achieve promotion we are settling for second best.

Couple of Everton mates at work that I have deemed with praise on how unfair their plight is.
Love it, "Sam is the man to put in the structures for the Messiah to take over in 18 months time backed by the money from the richest man in the world.
Look what happened last night:"
I agree with them and wonder at the conversion of Sammy Lee.
They will now challenge for 5th spot as everyone else is crap.
HE,HE, HE. Fuck, I hope I am wrong.

The premier league is crap and full of incredibly unpleasant teams.

That said, it is the top league in England and we are the greatest club in England so we need to be in it.

Its that simple really.

I don't miss it though. I really dislike almost all teams in it. I havent watched a Premier league game since we got relegated and see zero reason why I should. I would sooner watch Serie A, I find it far more entertaining.

But yes we need to be back in the top league, no matter how awful it is.

Don’t agree the prem is awfull
it’s probably the best it’s ever been with the unfashionable clubs playing some good stuff and having strong squads

I’ve seen some great football in the Prem this season certainly miles better than anything in the one we’re in, you could say they are in a difference league
