It's a shame if they are screening Watford game, we want as big a crowd as possible at the game to honour GT
I agree, I really can't see us doing him the respect he deserves. A full house is the least he deserves but how we make that happen is beyond me. £5 entry on a night sometime near christmas would be my choice?

A night game will always be worse attended.

We should be doing a bit more to publicise this game though, and I don't see the point of making it free to air, that's just asking people not to turn up.

Be nice if a few old stars turn up. McGrath, Cowans, Barnes for instance.

Is it actually a fundraiser or just a GT tribute match?

If it's the latter then giving all season ticket holders free entry and charging everyone else £10/£1 kids and a couple of interesting signings beforehand might help

But I still remember Sid getting less than 5000 for his testimonial. And he's the finest player i've ever seen

Proceeds are going to charities. Then again, I get the impression Watford's attitude is that he was theirs and nobody else's. When the game was shifted to Villa Park they announced that it was 'only' a pre-season friendly and were having the proper celebration the following week, which is where the Graham Taylor Trophy would be played for.

There can't be a reason why we don't organise our own tribute.

Prices are already out.

If McGrath, Cowans and Barnes turn up, regardless of age Steve Bruce should sign them all up for next season.

Are you sure he recognises players with talent.

Might as well sticky this and it can be the match thread for the friendlies, with the first one(s) tonight.

Can we have a separate thread for the Watford game? Seeing as it is part-friendly, part-tribute to a Villa great.

I just want maximum exposure of the game to get the biggest possible crowd, really.

Really intrigued as to the line-ups/squads for these games. We've still got such a bloated squad, it might give an indication as to who is not in Bruce's plans this season.

With two games at the same time this could be a fun match thread

For what it's worth the club photographer is off to Kiddie.
