Well its Team Bruce attempting damage limitiation at the moment. It's not really about Villa anymore, its about writing his own narrative about why he failed here, so he can get another job.

However,Matt Law,Rosenior and Garry Thompson have spoken out about the lack of method ,echoing what's been said here for the past 18 months.Labelling these fans as ''stupid ones' is very ironic as their educational qualifications probably far exceed those of the press and the ex professional pundits.
A similar thing happened in cricket when the press and the ex pros backed the establishment v Kevin Petersen and attacked the views of those 'outside cricket'
Saunders backing Bruce is surprising,especially as he basically described Bruce's football as Route 1 in a Radio 5 interview about a year ago.

The majority of these peoplew will not have watched us , at least it is starting to make the main media , and thats a cabbage for you

Players playing where they should, their natural position. Simple, basics.

Not necessarily, that's a powder puff midfield and Taylor is one of the worst players I've ever seen in a Villa shirt.  There is no right formation, it's all about opinions.  But I think we can all agree playing four right backs is not the answer.

My point is that it's players playing in position. You can change out Grealish for Whelan or Jedinak if you like, or take off El-Ghazi and put Adomah in there. Taylor looks shit because he's in a shit team with no idea and no doubt with no clear direction. If you want to put someone else there, fine, but it shouldn't be someone who doesn't know the position.

During halftime at Ashton Gate the fans in the concourse were singing that vile Tracey Andrews song, changing the lyric to 'let her out to kill Steve Bruce'... whilst I'm sure it was an attempt at humour (and largely alcohol fuelled), I found it to be in pretty poor taste.

I want him to leave by any means possible as quickly as possible, but I will not resort to the personal abuse heard on Friday and last night, some of which was pretty abhorrent.

I could count the games I have enjoyed under Bruce on one hand , even a few games we won last season I thought how did we do that , we were dire.   

I have wanted him gone since last season .

I think ex-footballers are instinctively conservative about what they say about an ex-pro. It's built in to an extent because players/managers criticising each other in public is a big no-no, unless you're a loose cannon like Collymore.  My feeling is Bruce doesn't want another Sunderland because that did damage his reputation, not just the sacking but the animosity, and he spent a lot of time in the media trying to get his view across about what happened. When he does get the bullet i'm fully expecting  him to come out with stuff about "not being accepted by certain sections of the fanbase because of who he managed" and other clearly untrue assumptions, but that's how someone media savvy like Bruce is gonna play it.  He really shouldn't have criticised the fans like that though - DOL made the same mistake and it didn't do his career much good.
