Samba's a big lad. We should have tried playing him up front.

i said before the season started this season would be a carbon copy of last season

when all said and done Bruce will get us to finish in the play off positions playing the way his teams always have
i don't think we will be in the auto's so it will be the lottery at the end of the season to see whether we make the promised land or not
this may or may not be good enough for the good people of H+V but its whether its good enough for the new powers that counts now

giving him the next 2 games 5, 10, October, Christmas, good runs , bad runs etc is not what its about for me
its about building and progressing the team forward, and developing a playing style that can compete long term and is actually worth a watch every now and then

Bruce for me has never been that man, but we will be in the top 6 come the end of play............imo

I don't think we will John.  Not with that defence.

we could easily do so if we take steps to strengthen now and in January

Last season I said 5th-8th and was slightly out but I see no real change this year so long as he's here.  We'll win enough games to be i the mix for the playoffs but we'll have too many runs without a win to ever really challenge at the top. It's what Bruce does in this league, he'l get 75-85 points which will put us 'there or thereabouts' for the playoffs. If that's enough for people then it's their choice, I can see why the 20-25 wins involved can be used to justify the means but it's not going to be pretty (in the main) and we're going to have plenty of games where we're just plain shit (but hopefully not at the level of last Saturday).

Personally I don't see what Bruce is adding to the club or anything of a 'legacy' he's leaving behind, he's taking good players and getting enough good individual performances from them to get points. If he even had us looking like a team that was trained together I could forgive a lot of the stupidity but we just don't, 'give it to Jack' or 'go on Jimmy, make something happen' is pretty much the extent of our attacking threat (in open play) which is fucking shameful.

But we can’t strengthen now (I can’t see any reason to think the free agents we keep talking about are on his radar) and realistically January will be too late for automatic places with our current form.

maybe, but I still think we got enough firepower ie Grealish, McGinn in midfield and Koj and the  new signings up front to get us TorT

I'm with risso. Credit where it's due I think Bruce has assembled some real talent in midfield and attack. But that defence is a shocking mish mash of out of position players. Only a fool would build a palace on clay foundations.

I think we'll be top six too, as long as we get Terry or Huth and stay clear of injuries.

Whatever bollocks Bruce says about the turmoil in the summer, he has had plenty of time and money to replace the loan players.
We should be miles better this season.

Same here, I think squad moral may be a problem.
I also think he has lost the plot.

 ;D
Hogan is slow, short and lacks footballing ability.
Disagree - Hogan was expected to recreate his form in a totally different system to the one he came from and has - I think - been let down by Villa (although he should have at least put the header on target a few minutes from the end of the play-off final  ;D)
