I backed his appointment, and have been behind him ever since, but...

I travelled to Burton and Sheffield. The problem was not simply the results, some you win, some you lose. It was the performances. The team did not look capable of winning.

He should have until the winter window.

If he gets until the winter window, i think we will have wasted another season, we wont be near the top two, and probably outside the playoffs.

Giving Bruce that amount of time, is in my opinion silly. He has had enough time and money, and he has failed

Why is Bruce still manager this morning? He should have been removed post match! Bruce out today please to maximise the upcoming break in fixtures. Oh and when he goes, ensure he takes his useless backroom team with him. I don't want any of them left in temporary charge.

If he failed to cut it as a tactician, the 50-year-old did not seem much of a strategist either. Including loans, 30 players were signed – several of whom have subsequently been moved on – during Bruce's two-and-a-half years on Wearside. That represents an unsettling "churn" factor and hardly proved conducive to developing either a clear playing philosophy or strong team spirit.

Always rather amorphous, if not downright scrappy, Sunderland's high-tempo style lacked creativity, not to mention control, in central midfield. Unable to dictate play, the team frequently failed to press home early advantages.

so familar.

Arguably one of the principal reasons Bruce is no longer in charge at the Stadium of Light concerns his apparent inability to tweak formations or tactics during matches. Whenever a rival manager re-configured his system mid-game, Bruce invariably failed to come up with a countermeasure.

Last week it was evident that many of the team were playing for themselves.
Today it was clear they were not playing for Bruce.
He's tried, he's failed & it's time we moved on, because it's never going to work.

The comment underneath the article is how its turning out here with players

He has looked out of his depth for a long time. With hindsight, it now looks telling that in his last season at Wigan they started well, but then went on a long losing run. Certainly at Sunderland his response to adversity has seemed almost random. We simply don't look like a team that knows how it wants to play, and certainly has no idea of how to change its approach when things aren't working.

I'm sorry for him, really, but he had to go. We've looked terrible for almost a full calendar year, too many good players seem to have been alienated, and others who have performed well elsewhere haven't thrived under the Bruce regime. His time was up.

Sadly it looks like we will be starting again soon. When it happens which I have no doubt it will (not right away but not far away) I just hope that this administration get the right guy in and that they put some feelers out now.

Keeper hoofs the ball to Elmo, attempts flick on to Kodja.
Full-backs hoof the ball down the line for Kodja to chase.
Wingers cross ball, as Kodja walks into box.

Keep repeating & hope talented players pull something out of nothing.

Retreat once ahead.

Predictable, outdated and ineffective.

sadly  the reality will be that the owners will probably want to see a few games with all the new signings playing first to see what sort of a fist he makes of that.
They will already know what the vibe is around the place. And, if Purslow is any good, he’ll get the vibe very soon.
My sense is that they will act fairly quickly, as long as the alternative is gettable.

I hope they do not go for Henry: I don’t want us to be another testing ground.

I think Henry has just returned to the Belgian FA as new assistant manager.

That’s probably right but unless they have an instant positive impact then the owners will surely act. I just hope that when it does we can sell a vision of the future that will attract the right calibre of manager.

surely no one really expected to wake up this morning and discover Bruce had gone?
