I noticed at last the media Bruce darlings are starting to work him out.

Matt Law journalist tweeted

Is he still our manager today (I say 'manager' in the loosest sense of the word)? Why the f-ck is he still in the role?

Just by way of balance, what if Bruce had gone for it yesterday and we won. We then got deep into the competition but the league campaign faltered?

I’m using Bristol City of last season as my reference. Got to the league cup and went from comfortable top 6 to nowhere.

A good 2-0 away win would suit me fine.

On paper we have a far superior squad to Brizzle so this should not be an issue. Bruce out.

It's not just about yesterday though is it.

I wonder what we would be saying on here as outsiders if another Championship club sacked their manager after five league games from the start of the season with no defeats and sitting fourth in the table.

It depends on who they were and why they were sacking him.  If it was a club of a similar stature to Villa, and their manager had spent two years not getting them promoted despite spending squillions and generally playing poor football, I think I'd say something like "I'm amazed he's lasted that long."

Likewise, if Steve Bruce was the manager of one of our rivals, and had performed for them like he has for us, how many people would be clamouring for him to be appointed?
To be honest, who cares what anyone thinks. It's time to call it a day.

To be fair to Bristol, as good a season as they had and players they had their squad was wafer thin. After numerous transfer windows of splashing money left right and centre we should have enough cover to be able to beat some lower league sides. If the cover isn't good enough then it again highlights how poor Bruce has been in the transfer market. His buys have been abysmal.

I'd think they'd been rash.

Don't mistake opinion on here as being in anyway representative of the match going support. Closest I've heard was somebody decrying him at Ipswich.

I'm sure plenty have reservations and feel disappointed at certain times, but this site doesn't capture the mood of the away support or really any of the home support by me.

That's a loaded question though isn't it. No club in this league has given such huge resources to their manager. We're the championship equivelant of Man City just without the success and and an actual game plan.

I was referring to the comparative spending side of things. Our spending over the last 2 years compared to say Brentfords is akin to Man City's spending compared to say Southampton.
