Bruce playing Tuanzebe at right-back just baffles me.  i've spoken to United fans and they all see him as a centre half so is Boreinho trying to convert him because i can't imagine they'd be too happy with Bruce playing him out of position otherwise. If that's the case and bruce is playing jediknackered at centre-half to accommodate this, then he should be sacked for that alone

Expecting Bruce to alter his footballing philosophy to the modern day is like contracting tuberculosis and asking the doctor to cure you with fucking leeches!

I suspect another lesson in pass and move coming up on Wednesday.   I can't wait to see the back of him, nice man though he no doubt is.

I’d be impressed if he used leeches, I thought he was a more trepanation guy.

What a bunch of self entitled fannies we look sometimes. 7 points from 3. Sack him!

At least wait until we fucking lose.

I’m entitled to something better than Bruce

I was at Liverpool away 1976 and the home friendly against Rangers so I’m owed

And I've got a 4 and half hour journey back via the motoring equivalent of a mine field that is the A14. We're all.owed something.

have a good journey back bud

I’m in Ilfracombe having a beer by the harbour

Thank you. Enjoy your beer and the weather.

He'd use kebabs not leeches

Some of the opinions on this are hyperbolic and very one-sided.  For example, how exactly did Bruce "throw the youth players under the bus" etc?  All he pointed out was that they didn't exactly cover themselves in glory (as most would concur on here I"d expect) v Yeovil.  He also said that the experience would stand them in good stead.  Can't argue with that.

Some people wanting the youth team to be played, but contradicting the point by admitting only 1 or 2 from a generation will be good enough?

As for moaning about that scoundrel Steve Bruce having a network in the transfer market, built up from a couple of decades of being a manager?  Or spending money on players (like every single football manager ever)?  Bizarre.  He gets some wrong, and some right (again, like all other managers).

Bruce is not in any way perfect, I'd like to see a more progressive coach come in after him (hopefully when we're back in the PL) and that we play good, exciting football .  But he isn't as bad as some on here make out and could well get us up this year, which like somebody said above, is miraculous given where we were as a club just a few weeks ago.
Rubbish

Thanks for the considered analysis.   I'll look forward to your next nuanced post about how much you don't like Steve Bruce, because it's really interesting and insightful.

He is doing a great job under impossible circumstances.

Not good enough, same old problems with a lack of cohesive attacking strategy. Jedinak is not good enough and should never be starting.

I'm not saying 'sack him'. I'm saying that there are reasons to be concerned that he'll fail in taking us up. 7 points from 9 is great form, but we have to raise our expectations in this division. If we're going to think of ourselves as proper promotion candidates, then we have to think of 7 from 9 as just above par.

The problem is that Bruce doesn’t have a clue how to adapt and that includes reacting to a team that go to 10 men. He just doesn’t, and will never, learn. It’s not a good point today at all.

That's about right.

The problem for me is that our style seems to be so grimly attritional - just keep doing the same thing and eventually, if you do it enough, you'll score, when the thing you are doing over and over is entirely lacking in movement, pace or invention.

We'll beat more than we lose to purely because our players are way better than most of the other teams, but it's just so uninventive and uninspiring to watch.

I agree, sacking Bruce for winning two and drawing one would be bonkers, I just don't think he's ever going to change.

Just to clarify I am not saying ‘sack him’, but ultimately the failings evident in today’s result will be what do for him in the end.

Again, my thoughts pretty much exactly.

Why would he? In his 20 years of management he's probably earnt 10m +, managed in europe, FA cup final and 6-7 seasons in premier league.

This however will be the job where he's had the most pressure and so his limitations are exposed more when things go wrong.
