You mean remove all the midfield and throw on all the forwards?

Perhaps Bruce knew exactly how shit or bust the Fulham game was and was so paralysed by fear of failure that he sent them out the way he did on the first half.

Personally, if I knew it was shit or bust i'd want to go down all guns blazing knowing I/we had given everything. May still have lost, or even suffered a heavier defeat, but at least I wouldn't be looking back thinking "if only".

yep. Bruce to a tee. More worried about the opposition. I called him cowardly in some games and got some stick for it  but he was.

Nope, start the game more like we did the second half instead of sitting back and handing all of the momentum to Fulham. Maybe kick them a bit like they did us, all guns blazing doesn't have to mean the patented and never successful Lambert/Bruce 1-1-8 formation.

apart from the fact that I've seen countless games under Bruce exactly like that
sometimes against lesser opponents we even got some points out of it

Yep.

Surely even Bruce, knowing that everything was on success last season - total shit or bust - if asked the question 'who do you need as the last piece of the jigsaw this season to make sure we get there?' would answer with he words 'Glenn' and 'Whelan'.

End of the day we patently weren't a great team overall, but as results showed we could beat anyone on our day and not by a fluke. Bruce set us up too many times wanting not to lose when the reality was there was nothing in that division that required those tactics.

If Bruce was to walk, who the hell is going to take this on now lol.... Mad as it sounds you would almost need someone like Heckingbottom that was at Barnsley and worked so well with the kids there.

It's a free hit for any manager outside of the promotion candidates in the Championship or from a lower division.  Or an overseas manager looking to get in to English football.

If it all goes tits up, well what do you expect, the club was a mess.  But there's also the chance of greatness at one of the countries biggest clubs.

How is he feeling now? 45 minutes of attacking football and all this could have been avoided.

Except Whelan had a solid season for us. When Bruce was forced to work to a tight budget last season, he did his best work in the transfer market. The Jan before that was an utter shit show.

Yep, we must've played about 15 away games last season in the manner of the first half of the play off final. Just look at our away results against most of the top 10, we hardly won any games or scored many goals.

It was little different to how we played at Craven Cottage for example.

People forget he got some good displays from Green, brought  Davis through and has done more with Jack than the last 4 managers combined. Bruce is not going to make us a better team to compete at the top, but he will galvanise the squad he has and keep us up, which is more important for stability.
Picking Davis was a case of TINA.Grealish's development this year might be down to a few factors, maturity, influence of Terry etc but even if it was mainly down to Bruce,it begs the question as Jack was our best player in the second half of the season and Snodgrass was pretty impressive ,how come vital points were lost in what were relatvely easy games against the likes of QPR,Hull and Bolton and why our style of play was not directed more through midfield ?
What encouragement did he give to other youngsters,Bree and O'Hare were quickly discarded,Mitch Clark and Doyle-Hayes ignored after fine debuts in the League Cup.
RHM not considered despite coming into an impressive vein of form.
Bruce has a very poor record when it comes to relegating sides.

To be honest PWS, if the hierarchy knew the serious consequences of not going up last season, then surely they should have been doing everything to go up automatically and that includes looking at Bruce’s position during those poor runs before Christmas.

I doubt that Xia said better get up or the money has run out, I think it was more better get up or huge cut backs and a seriously lower budget next season.
The mistake was to give Bruce the summer transfer window and the start of the season.
They bet the Farm on his brand of negative football all the way to the play off Final.
