Well there's a break now so maybe yes. I can understand him playing Adomah, Grealish and Grabban as they recently had time out but Lansbury needed to start for sure this week along with RHM or Hogan.

I was really surprised he didn't change it around on Tuesday and even more surprised he then didnt learn his lesson from the Bolton game.  Isnt he a promotion expert?, this weeks poor player management has probably cost us any chance of an automatic spot.

You're talking shite. It bears repeating.

Where was your I used to go in the 70s, I wouldn't pay to watch this shite, I love being a faddy Scouser routine after we smashed the Dingles. Bore off.

Why don’t you drop the hardman routine you try and cultivate on here, stop being such an arrogant arsehole. People can have different opinions to you, you’re not the authority on all things Aston Villa.

If we fail to get up this season then we have to replace Bruce with Warnock. That should have been the appointment instead of Di Matteo. You will get the usual “Don’t Luke his football” comments but there are two things to consider, first being that he can only work with what he has (at Villa he would have better players) and secondly we need to get out this division! We will end up stuck down here. The football has been crap enough for years, one bad year to get up won’t make a bit of difference.
I’ve made this point before but Warnock is same as Bruce only better at it and it works well here in the Championship but will totally ripped to shreds in the Premier League. That will be our fate if we go up with Bruce in charge. This is a poor league but the one above isn’t.

I really don't see the point of getting rid of one manager known for his rather insipid football but  "guaranteed" to get us up, for next season's new improved extra-guaranteed, extended warranty version. My feeling is the likes of Bruce and Warnock are successful at certain types of clubs where the size and lack of  historical success allows them to operate with no baggage and no expectation. Certainly, the only traditionally big sized clubs either have managed hasn't ended well
Amen to that

It's promotion or bust.

On Warnock he is good at this level and he has got promotions in lower leagues also with smaller clubs on tight budgets.Cardiff haven't spent much but have a style of play that suits them and gets results ,he gets the team working as a unit.

For me Bruce is always looking for excuses .In the last week he has moaned about Wolves meanwhile Warnock has just said fair play to them and got on with his job.Bruce keeps bringing up FFP meanwhile he has a squad with 3 over 10mil paid strikers ( one who is injured ) one he fell out with and one he brought himself and can't get the best out of .He spent millions on a midfield that is still lightweight and in Terry must have one of the highest paid players in the league so sorry I'm sick to the back teeth of hearing about his tough job with FFP.

If we don't go up you can be damn sure who ever replaces him ( and he will be sacked if we don't go up I have no doubt of that ) will have a much harder job than he has had this year balancing finances

While I am not optimistic about our chances of promotion, I am less pessimistic about another season in the Championship provided Bruce has gone and been replaced by a manager with genuine talent.  I think the inability to waste prodigious sums of money on players like McCormack, Hogan, Lansbury and Hourihane plus the withering on the vine of blood suckers like Gabby and Richards will make us a leaner, keener squad.  The luxury of leaving young players out in the cold will have to end as we cut our clothes to suit our cloth.

All that of course depends on bringing in a manager with imagination and vision.  Bring in another old sweat from the managerial merry go round and the future will be as frustratingly painful as the recent past.

Your last paragraph is important Brian. I'm not fully confident in the powers that be making the correct choice.

If we didn't make it and needed to balance books then Dean Smith would be my first choice with Gary Rowett as 2nd choice. Unless a bolter from Europe became available. Lets hope it doesn't come to that though.

I think Wyness is key to the future path.  Rumours have had it that Wyness has been riding shotgun for Bruce all season.  Is Wyness the sort of man who will hold his hand up and say Bruce was an expensive mistake or will he want another gnarled old slugger manager?  We shall see.  Like our promotion prospects it is a coin toss.
