We had just won by five at home to a promotion rival. He was hugely misguided in his stick at the support after the Boro game. Why even go there at all yesterday?
He didn't did he?

Yes while not in as strong a terms as some of the bollocks he spouted of late he still suggested it yesterday. Referencing social media. Because those who don’t use it obviously see everything as he does. He needed to avoid the issue entirely or just say he understands and we are working hard to achieve the goal. He can’t help himself.
Ah, ok got it.  I still think the interview was generally ok and we are in danger of getting a little precious.

That's exactly what is being suggested of Bruce. And he's getting paid a lot of money to do a job that many others would love to have. It's the biggest opportunity of his life and he will never again get a bigger one. So he needs to stop being so precious and deal with it and the expectations that come as part of the package.

I think people are going a little over the top with it. At Brentford he walks off the pitch to 'you don't know what you're doing'. Last night they were signing his name again and I think that's the point he was making. One minute you're hated, the next you're loved. Any manager will tell you that, it's nothing new.

I think precious is apt the other way round.

I'n delighted with the Bristol performance but as with the poor run at the start of the season, which culminated in a cracking performance against Norwich, the odd good performance doesn't prove anything.  So far the really good performances, like Norwich, Bristol and away at Preston and  Barnsley have been one-offs rather than a sign of a team finding it's mojo and getting up to speed.  He'll only win me over when he can get them playing like that regularly. His record so far indicates we are just as, if not more, likely to revert to the grinding approach.  Hopefully Agnew had something to do with it and things will be different this time.

This post match interview with Scott Hogan is well worth a listen. The football he describes has been alien until last night. It would appear something has dramatically changed.

While I am happy to give Bruce credit for the change I wonder if the new fella Agnew has anything to do with this?

It's possible Bruce saw the light eventually. That 13 goals in 12 goals after Burton wasn't good enough and that he needed to make a change. And if he came to that conclusion and has made the appointment, albeit someone he knows well, then fair play to him for doing it. Agnew has been brought in with creativity in mind and Saturday saw that in bunches. Long may it continue.

Could be. Interesting. Seems like Agnew has been a good hire so far. Nice that Bruce has "his people" around him who have an attacking philosophy as well. Hopefully that will make him more open to a better style.

He does. He seems unusually honest and self-aware for a footballer. Perhaps because he came up the hard way. He's 100% correct about what happens when teams play with tempo too.

He does, alough you can sense his frustration that we haven't been playing a style that suits him.  A likeable bloke and I really hope he can turn things round with us.

He does need to shut the fuck up about the criticism. It’s part and parcel of being at a big club, season 2 in the Championship with high expectations about getting promoted. That’s why he won’t last long term.

Absolutely. If he doesn't think the expectation is realistic he can always resign and go back to a club where the expectation, playing budget and managers wage is far lower.

Yep. And unlike any of us, he is free to choose if he wants to leave the club. We're all stuck with the Villa for life.

It's a really simple formula, each game you win as a manager buys you an extra week in the job.
