which sums up the dilemma - if we won the next 2, which of course I want us to, he stays. Then we lose the next two or three, and the disaffection starts all over again.

Reasons to keep Bruce,

1 We might appoint someone worse

2 ??????

Can anyone fill in point 2 or offer any other reasons?

Point 1 is not a reason to keep him

Point 2 I reakon the wider management team at Villa are committed to Bruce. Another managerial appointment will have them under massive scrutiny (if they're not already) and they'll be bricking it. After all, its beginning to look like they don't know what they're doing!

When he goes it much be much more than the replacement of a manager.  It must be the wiping clean of everything he, McLeish, Lambert, Sherwood, Black and RDM brought about.  The fear of losing.  The recruitment of flawed, aged, injury prone, mentally weak, lazy, stroppy, technically inept overpriced players.  The addressing of the bedrock supporters as though we know nothing about the club or the game of football.  The mollycoddling of players who are drawing huge wages without making any effort to justify a place in the squad.  The reluctance to give young players a chance to break into the first team.  The neglect of the spirit of the dressing room allowing the likes of Agbonlahor, Lescott and Richards to destroy team spirit.  Finally to re-establish the importance of basic coaching like how to take a free kick or a throw in.

Me too. It amazes me how often we get the basics like corners and throw ins wrong. I wonder what they actually do at Bodymoor?

The Kafkaesque nature of support summed up.

They clearly don’t know what they’re doing, and you can be sure they’ve got each other’s back. This Agnew appointment further strengthens this 'jobs for the boys' attitude. Jokers.

Some of the problem is, Wyness and Round are very much in that same club.  Jobs for the boys.  They need to get rid of it as it will continue to drag the club down.  They too have to be challenged by a manager with a strong mentality.  Oh for another Graham Taylor.  I guess we've moved on!

I've wondered for some time now just how much the players are committed to Bruce. I don't think it's just the fans that have a WTF moment with his team selections and tactics.

I've never got the impression that the players are not playing for him. As for the team selections, the other night was a bit bizarre but overall they've been pretty much what people expect, bar one or two who people think should be given a chance.

That's not the same thing though really.  Not playing for someone is the end of the scale where you actively want them gone, I don't think we have many players who are there but I also don't think there are many who'd be all that bothered if he was sacked.  Given he doesn't do training, doesn't (by his own admission) do tactics and doesn't make changes that affect games (bar 1-2 exceptions) that leaves him with transfers and motivation as all he's bringing.  Transfers are 50/50 at best and are all very short term fixes.  Motivation just doesn't seem to be happening, how often do we come out after half time and look like we don't give a shit?

Why is Bruce still in post? By not getting rid after 6 games this season we risked our chances of auto promotion. By persisting with someone long past his use by date we are putting our chances of the playoffs at risk. Both Wyness and Xia have a responsibility to Aston Villa football club, not Bruce, so to sit and wait it out to see what happens is a failure on their part. I have zero confidence that we'll get anything in the next 2 games under bruce, so to replace him, even if it's with Calderwood and Clemence for 2 games won't make us any worse. In fact because they actually work with the players in training, we might even surprise ourselves with some points, until a permanent manager is appointed.
