The fact (with respect to you all) is that if it is football, Aston Villa have done it.  We have never, in all our glorious history, been in El Gordo (the fat one), the richest game in football for the £200 million jackpot.  The playoff final.  It is in our stars.  See you there.

We've only really had one so far, the Wolves.

This is what I was thinking.  We have been quite lucky with fixtures and at this stage of the season I'm quite happy with our position.  With most of the big hitters still to come it looks like those games could play a big part in our fate this season.  That's the big test.  That is why I think its important we strengthen in Jan.

In the Ipswich press conf Bruce reckoned we will be looking at loans mainly in jan to cover the injuries and cant spend millions due to FFP.

Thanks Cigs.  I had to get Carrot Quarterly out of the bottom of the budgie cage and The Suffolk Shotkicker out of the lav to try to find some reference to life as we know it.

We've played four of the other five teams in the top six, three of them away, so I don't know what you're on about being "lucky with fixtures".

Edit- sorry did you mean we've still got to play the big hitters at home?

Also its different when you play them in the second half of the season.  Middlesborough were still getting into their stride when we played them at VP (probably still are to be fair), chances are when we play them on Dec 30th it'll be a tougher game.  Leeds on Friday night could be a biggie too.

It will be a tough xmas.

Derby away will be a tough one, straight after his Sheffield United game which will obviously be hyped up then we have Brentford away where we were battered last season, Boro away who are strong at home and then 48 hours later Bristol City who are a tricky team in the top 6.

Would be happy with 7 or 8 points from that as long as we beat Ipswich and Millwall and get something at Leeds.

Would mean we'd be nearly on 50 points with still half the season to play.

We're winning games and not playing well which is a good sign. However, is this as good as it gets? Is he capable of getting us playing attractive, exciting football on a regular basis? I don't think so. Tuesday and today, our play is so slow and we start games sluggishly and kill any atmosphere. We need to come out of the traps flying and play with a higher tempo. Leeds will certainly do that on Friday and get their crowd going.

It’s onlt a week since QPR. I’d be very happy if we play like that again versus Leeds
