He will be gone in the summer if another Championship club wants him (but it will probably be another seasons loan and then a free transfer.)

Swansea will sign him if they come up. It's as obvious as us getting in Mings full time even though nothing was agreed in the actual loan.

Experienced, fitted in with style of play and played in premier league for a couple of years which most of their team haven't. We'd know how desperate they would be to get him aswell so can just keep rejecting offers until they come up with decent bid.

A year's loan makes no sense whatsoever. We have a player who's worth 5-6m currently and we loan him out again to lose him on a free?! Is that you Tom Fox (wink).

Although he certainly scored spectacularly from free kicks sometimes, I actually thought that his dead ball delivery from corners and free kicks was very often disappointing. So even that aspect of his game was not of the standard we are beginning to aspire to.

It was better than any current player's attempts.
I think I can remember one of Traore's free kicks being converted in maybe his 1st or 2nd game other than that nothing from Barkley, El Ghazi, Bert or even Jack.

I disagree with LeeB. Conor is a good player.

Oh I agree, he is. My point was, in a team looking to play like we do and aiming at Europe, his weaknesses get exposed a bit too much. He's too easy to go past, has zero acceleration, and he struggles to take the ball on the turn, but facing goal with the ball in the final third, I'd want him on it above anyone else in the squad.

Which makes him better than Ramsey and McGinn.

Conor's limitations were clear in the Championship, where a physical presence was sometimes needed in midfield. There was the game where he was taken off after having a mare and ambled off the pitch to plenty of discontent from the ground. His position clearly wasn't/isn't a midfield workhorse...

However - I think he'd have added more to our game as a limited number 10 - much more than Barkley has (with the exception of his first 4 games).

He'll always divide. Sexual and Abbeyfeale are strong champions of the chap, others less so.

His passes and shooting is very good. My biggest grip with him, was the lack of awareness. Often he would be flatfooted and unable to get to passes or stray balls as he wasn't anticipating what might happen. When the games got gritty he also typically was lagging behind being unavailable for passes.

I would rather have JM In his current position ( which many on here also believe it’s too far back ) than CH anywhere near that team.

JM further forward destroys CH.

Is there a reason why Conor isn't in the Ireland squad tonight?

He went off injured against Cardiff, guess he's not fit.

How's he getting on now ? Didn't see the play off yesterday but Swans won. Wonder if though that's time now with Villa
I guess if they go up he be interested in a permanent move
All in all he may have actually been useful to us with all the injuries and he probably had last laugh with Dean who decided to go with Barkley instead of Connor.

To quote Conor when he moved on loan
"Villa is a fantastic club, I've been there for four years now. It's such a fantastic club, a great setup, huge football club.
But they are moving on as well and going to a level that, the club may feel like is past my level. That's their opinion so we'll just see what happens come the summer."

Good luck whatever happens
I'm not averse to having him as part of squad next season. Though I guess he wants to be playing regularly where as he's a squad and a player who can come in for games or replacement and come on. We know what we get with him likeable and a thoroughly decent professional

He's one of my favourite Villa players but he's not good enough for a top 10 Prem team which is where we want to be.

Thanks for everything Conor, especially helping to get us out of the Championship, and best of luck getting Swansea promoted.
