With regards to Jack, the fact that he's getting boxed in by up to three defenders at a time which the rest of the midfield hasn't been exploiting is enough for me to say we still haven't seen everything he can do. Our opponents have all known that if you can stop him from getting space we have no one else who is really going to hurt them in the transition between the defenders and the forwards. With a more even contribution through the midfield I see him being one on one more often or if he is against two defenders we should have the other midfielder able to find a two on one in our favour elsewhere. When the next ball actually causes some damage the neat little sideways passes when he's under pressure look so much better. He almost always finds an outball, just the mids we have can't do anything with it
Common sense talking.

John Percy reckons we are in for Neil Taylor and Barrow from Swansea with Ayew as a make weight.  Also still in for Rhodes with Boro likely to drop the price.  I reckon if we find a buyer for McCormack we will buy Rhodes. The Taylor and Barrow links make sense as we need more pace and left back competition.  None of it will involve Jack in the end and nor should it unless it was silly money offered as i said last night.  It would be interesting if we did get a winger like Barrow and stoker like Rhodes in, how much Jack would have to up his productivity to make the team.  Both come off I reckon behind Newcastle we will have the best squad. Get 2 or 3 results we could easily go on a long run.

Neil Taylor is a fine player, would suggest Amavi is off. TBF that'd be an upgrade, I really rate Taylor.

I've rated Taylor in the past (not seen him play for some time). As Amavi is the only left back we have though, I would imagine it's more about competition for places.

Steve Bruce has launched a bid for Swansea's Neil Taylor and Modou Barrow as he moves to further strengthen his Aston Villa squad.

Bruce is targeting a raid on the struggling Premier League club for Taylor, the left-back, and winger Barrow, with Ghana international Jordan Ayew emerging as a possible makeweight in the deal.

Villa have spent around £10million in the January transfer window but Bruce wants to make at least two more signings before Tuesday's deadline.

It would give a number of options. Play Taylor in games where we need to be more defensive, Amavi in games we're likely to be doing more attacking. Or try playing Amavi in front of Taylor and see how that goes. And just in case Amavi decides he wants to leave either this month or the end of the season, a ready made quality replacement. It'd be another good, solid signing.

Taylor and Barrow for Ayew? Yes please. Taylor is a very decent player. Barrow is very quick. We would Muller teams on the break!

I think Swansea fans don't rate Taylor and that Barrow may be quick, but if we want quick lets get Bolt. He seems a headless chicken to me, lets let the fat spanish waiter outbid us me thinks

Lost his way a bit recently but would be a good signing for us.  I've got to say, I'm really impressed with the way we have gone about this window and if those two come in, I just think we would be a striker short from having had an excellent window.

We seem to be completely restructuring the team in one transfer window, for the third time in 18 months

I'm happy with the deals so far. But think we should slow down. Whatever happened to coaching improvement?

That may be so, but if you keep buying tat then you end up with a house full of tat that needs replacing until you realise that you should have bought quality in the first place. You can't polish (or coach) a turd and our house is full of shit tat which is why we got relegated in the first place and the tat isn't good enough to get us out of this shitfest.

We have gone out a bought a bucket full of players in the past. I have to be honest I know nothing about the ones we've signed. I would rather we went for quality not quantity. It's certainly been a barmy January window. Fingers crossed they are all upgrades. I also hope that Johnstone proves to an upgrade too.

Sometimes you have to accept that you can't put it where it won't go.
