With a combination of Rudy and Adama Boro would have the biggest speed differential across the front ever seen in any team ever.  Unless of course Usain Bolt joins Man Ure.

Daley / Cascarino would run it close.

Gestede seems to manage to combine being seen as "really good in the air" with almost never actually winning any aerial duels.

Nice bloke, but really not very good.

Totally

for such a big bloke the majority of the time he had the physical presence of an 8 year old girl

I am tempted to do the older-fan-than-yow thing and say McParland-Dixon combo was pretty extreme but Johnny Dixon scored 29 goals in one season so he is honourably excused.  Can you imagine a Villa striker getting 29 goals in a season.  On £20 a week.

Remember this being reported in early December? See the link below and it was not just the Express carrying the story. "One in the bag (verbally) and another hoped to be agreed" that afternoon. Wonder what has happened since - hope we are not being mislead, deliberately or otherwise.

The owner has just said one is done and numerous others ongoing. I think it's a bit premature to doubt the owner.

My cynicism could be due to my previous life in Credit & Risk. Everyone is a potential bad debt until proven otherwise !! 🙂

Or alternatively, it could be due to 3 or 4 years of Lerner.

With it being bank holiday and the team away at Cardiff, it was never going to be the case that these signings were going to be announced this side of todays game.

I fully expect that by next weekend, the loan signing will have been announced, if not two.  The permanent signings are going to take longer if other teams are involved, which will almost certainly be the case with any decent player who is available.  Robbie Brady appears available for example.  I would hope that we are in for him but with Crystal Palace heavily linked, the chances are that he won't be signing for us on Tuesday, much as we'd like him to be.  If Palace are able to land someone else who they consider to be a better option, later on in the window, we would then have a realistic chance of signing him (although even then, there would be other sides interested).

Don't want to name any names but we will be signing someone from a top 4 club.. is a defensive midfielder who has struggled for game time over the past couple of seasons but will be a real coup. He will sign on loan to the end of the season with a view to a permanent if we go up. And no it isn't Delph.

Henri Lansbury has turned us down in favour of Derby, we had tabled a bid of 2.5m.

I think we will all be pleasantly suprised when this signing happens. Only expect 2-3 transfers this month, x2 midfielders and depending on who leaves expect a replacement.

Does anything need to have happened since?

Nope sorry I'm new here!

Just thought I'd share my thought's and also relay what I've been told about January.. oh and also its not yaya toure as has been suggested at the top of this thread. Think we all need to be realistic but even still we will be more than happy!

Also on a side note one name I keep hearing is Sebastian Larsson.. has played for Bruce at 2 different teams before and can play a holding role but is more effective at getting up the pitch? Is one of Bruces trusted ones so I hear
