Sorry but no manc bands for me. How's about The Day We Caught The Train by Ocean Colour Scene. Lead singer Simon Fowler is a big Villa fan. Or even something from Black Sabbath. Could you imagine Yanited or Citeh using a Brummie band? No way.

I had an Ocean Colour Scene CD once. I tied it on a piece of string and hung it up at the allotment to scare the birds away

Thank God you didn't play it to them, Damon - causing unnecessary suffering to an animal is a serious criminal offence.

OCS are all noses, apart from Oscar the drummer.

The one that looks a bit like David Banner said he is an Evertonian, but noses tend to have second and third clubs that they hide behind when the shame just gets too much.

If we're limiting ourselves to Brummie artists only, it has to be running out to Nessun Dorma from BFR's mate Renato, he of Renee and Renato fame.
Post match, Joan Armatrading - Drop the Pilot. Or March of the Swivelheads by The Beat.

He's actually from Liverpool, though.

Works a treat. I did the same on my balcony a few years back to stop the pigeons sitting on my outside light and shitting all day long. Thank you, Mr Weller.

I couldn't give the slightest shit who members of any given band support (or where a manager or player earned their money before, for that matter), but the PA system at VP is too shite to do justice to the bass requirements of Steel Pulse... Or anyone else, come to think of it.

Does anyone know where I can find Post Match thread?
It's in the music section.

I like the Oasis song. Fuck it, lets keep playing it. If it ends up we start singing 4 lines from a 90s pop song through games, does it really matter where they are from? (or even how good the song is?) Ive wanted us to adopt a song for ages and if it just so happens that that song is borne out of an away stadium playlist, when we had our first tiny bit of hope for years then it is more poignant than trying to manufacture one from a pool of birmingham based musician songs

I think some people are missing the point. It's the words 'don't look back in anger' that make the song relevant, and it was completely spontaneous. It's a rare example of football fans joining the dots between experience and reality and actually making sense. That's to be encouraged.

And as for the meaning, surely it's to do with the last five years of utter shit, and our humiliating and degrading relegation, and looking towards a better future, rather than anything to do with Steve Bruce?

Any terrace chant/song has to be organic and grow from the fans upwards. Attempts to generate it from the club have failed, remember trying to get the Holte to sing You’ll Never Walk Alone? and I was part of the recording of The Bells Are Ringing!
It has to be a tune that is easy to sing to and words that everyone can pick up.
At the final whistle at Reading when they played Don’t Look Back in Anger and the Villa fans took it up, it felt right, especially waving to Steve Bruce at the time.
It doesn’t matter who recorded it, where they are from or who they support.

how is most of the crowd going to sing along to a ocean colour scene song that they don't know

the 3 main things about the Oasis song as I see it are
1- most people know the words
2- don't look back in anger are appropriate lyrics for a song chanted by Villa supporters
3- it was a spontaneous thing that happened not contrived
