442?

Based on who's in the team it's virtually 4-2-4.
I think on the pitch it will look more like a 4-2-2-2

Given the height up front it strikes me as very silly for Amavi not to be in that team ahead of Cissokho.

I'd imagine McCormack left in a 442 or a 4231 with ayew and kodjia wide of McCormack

RDM seems to continually be over confident on players' fitness. I thought adomah and Tish might be fit. It appears grealish isn't either

I think with Amavi being so forward thinking and with 4 forwards on the pitch he's probably going with Cissokho's tiny, tiny advantage in defending ... ish.

I thought cissokho was our best player for much of the first half on Sunday (no saying much mind) and bailed out jack many a time.

You're almost certainly right.

Just seems frustrating that having 13ft of centre forward on the pitch and no bugger to cross it to them is straight out of the Sherwood playbook.

Just in case anybody missed the news, Ossie Ardiles took the managerial position earlier today.

Fancied this tonight. Not so much anymore. Big man up top with no width was one of our main problems in the first half of last season.

RDM seems intent on this attacking style , when the history books all tell us you build from the back.Im hoping for a swashbuckling performance but I do worry about his tactical nowse.

"Hi Paul, Roberto here. Tell me, what did you do when you absolutely needed to get a win with the Villa?"

"Well I remember this one time we needed to get a couple of goals in the second half against Bradford City..."

It relies a good deal on McCormack and Ayew tracking back, doesn't it?

To be fair, it makes some sense when you consider how much better we were in the second half than the first on Sunday.
