I thought Kod played pretty well, but yes ultimately I'd prefer him as a striker. Rudy is much better as an impact sub.

I think rudy has been a real threat at home so I understood the decision

I'd play kodjia up front tomorrow though

Why do these managers consistently play players out of position? Adomah and Jack wide with Ayew and Kodjia up top? I think McCormack will miss out with an injury?

And grounded - perhaps through being a late starter appreciating it all a bit more.

The drogba comparison is an interesting one, similar stature, strength, pace, good on the ball but also they both made the breakthrough to being genuine goalscorers later, Drogba only got double figures for the first time in the season he turned 25 and Drogba is another player who wasn't part of the professional game until he was older (17 in his case).  I'm not saying he'll be that good but I can understand why some people have seen him and drawn those comparisons.

I'd heard little of him before we linked but everything I've seen since suggested he was the right player for us and I wish we'd got him in much earlier, as I said when we signed McCormack a genuine 9 with pace, power and a good understanding of movement off the ball was the most important signing we needed to make this summer and I think we've got a good one here.

Need two up top to get the best out of Kodj, IMO. Kodj and Gestede with Adomah coming in on the right to give us a bit more balance.

But that means no McCormack and two in midfield (without even a no 10 to help make up the numbers) which many say has been a problem

no no no, and just in case there is any doubt, no. Gestede as back up from the bench. Kodjia up top with McCormack playing just behind or alongside. McCormack seems like an intelligent footballer (we don't get many of those at the villa) and will get the best out of Kodjia, especially with our lack of a true creative midfielder. And then 2 from 3 with Ayew, Grealish and Adomah

Hows about:

------------------GK------------------
Bacuna ---  CB -----   CB ----Amavi
----Tish-------Jedi------Grealish-----
--------------McCormack-------------
--------Ayew--------Kodija-----------

The width would mainly be provided by the full-backs and one of the striker drifting wide.  Importantly it get three bodies in the centre of the pitch so the team should not be easily over run.

I'd swap Ayew and RMc but agree otherwise.
