Top player and top attitude, gave us far more than he took...an example for some of our current players to reflect on!
Thanks Chessie, those stokies are very lucky! No more injuries mate ok!

Amazing with the injuries what amounted to being a shortish Villa career he will be remembered as one of the most beloved players of recent years. A consummate professional as you will ever find.

Good pro. Excellent in the season with Terry alongside him. Shame his body was knackered by the time we got up otherwise I'd have had him alongside Mings.

We need to find another like him for the next few years I think.

Put his body and career on the line for the club. Raised standards and attitudes in the dressing room.

Wish him nothing but the best.

This.

Secondly. Well said.

I fully agree with this also.
I hope Stoke look after him and maybe we can offer James a coaching role when he finishes his playing career should it be of interest to him.

Secondly. Well said.

Mad how he was a bit part player in that terrible Nathan Baker song.

I know it’s now more an appreciation for JC thread but to me Bruce doesn’t get the enough of the criticism for what happened to Chester’s career. Left us horribly short at the CB position that summer and forced Chester to play through a terrible injury. And I get the club was fucked with Xia but not like we had no money. He just spent a whack of it on an injured Bolasie FFS

My ten year old was gutted today when I told him Chester had gone for good. Says it all really.

quiet, unassuming, totally reliable, seemingly humble, one of a relative handful of top players for villa in some really difficult years. Always fondly remembered.
