Veretout

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/37176399

Surprised me that he started 21 league games last year

Unfortunately, that's because he went unnoticed for most of the time; one pass for a Gabby goal was all I remember.

He had more assists than anyone else at the club last season, apparently - which I think can only demonstrate that we did not score many goals because I'll be blowed if I remember him doing anything noteworthy.

I should think that it includes substitute appearances and not actually started games.

This is almost three times the number of games (and around four times the number of starts) that Mathieu Berson had. I'd have thought that there appearance numbers would have been very similar.

Just goes to show the lack of impact that Veretout had

Henry Cowans has joined Stevenage on loan.

Cowans, son of legend Gordon and regular in the U23s, will head to The Lamex Stadium for five months until January 7.

Stevenage play in League 2 and are managed by Darren Sarll.

Cowans will come into contention for this weekend’s match at Grimsby on Saturday.

Did any player play more than 10 games last season?

No player played any games last season.  2015/16 season did not occur. Any reports that Leicester won the league are equally spurious.

I'm not in denial. I just refuse to believe that we were as abject and spineless as we were.

Not only did Sanchez score the only goal of the game, a well taken header from a corner, but was also Man of the Match according to the Corriere dello Sport.

A goal, MOTM and taken off injured in the 59th minute. If football was only played for 60 minutes a game, Carlos would be one of the greatest players in the world. I appreciate he never had a proper rest every summer what with international football but I'm struggling to think of a player whose performance dropped so low for the final 30 minutes of a game.

Good luck to him though. For 60 minutes a game he's a very good, technical player. Why he never scored headers like that goal yesterday whilst at Villa I'll never know.

Oh hang on.. of course, Westwood on corners.

With young Cowans there too, they might just be my second favourite side.
