why does there seem to be an underlying streak of meanness here? I don't give a flying fuck about the population of Gretna - in my opinion, FG are a good little club. This sugar daddy argument could be applied to dozens of other owners, including our own.

I don't mind teams punching above their weight but let's be realistic about what Vincent wants. His intention is to turn them into a stable Championship club. To do this he is building his Vegan Bowl and financially doping them. Now Stroud is a small place so where are all these extra fans going to come from? The intention is to use their position to entice fans away from Cheltenham, Gloucester, Worcester, Bromsgrove etc. He is happy to fuck over other clubs so he can fill the gap between Brum and Bristol with M5 Corridor FC.

Anyone that thinks folks from Bromsgrove, Worcester, Redditch, Droitwich etc are suddenly going to support a club 50 miles away is on crack. They already support a league club and/or follow the local non league club. Plus the small matter of rivalry between Worcs and Glos.

That's the thing though. Richie Rich is a hippie who struck it lucky on green energy. He has ideas that are fucking nuts. And when he is fed up of his business paying for the profligacy of his football team they will be worse off than Leyton Orient.

Forest Green were in the conference for years before he turned up so they could probably go back to that level (albeit struggling to stay up) if he sells up or whatever.

I think at best they'll establish themselves as a league 2 club with maybe a season or two in league one (similar to what Crawley have done since they came up to league football).

I agree anything beyond that is cuckoo land.

Away goals don't count, is that right?

That's right - extra time and penalties if level at full time

The rule should be that if the scores are level after 90 minutes of the second leg both teams are eliminated and the club that invented the Football League gets automatically promoted instead.

Sensible policies for a happier Britain.

As opposed to certain clubs who for years who have been happy to fuck over other clubs by enticing any fan with access to the UK's transport infrastructure and a desire to see a regular parade of silverware.  Frankly, that type of fan has already been seduced and I hardly think Forest Green are going to suddenly pose a treat with the promise of chickpea fritters and a midweek visit from Barnet.
