Been impressed with the England lads. Great save from the penalty and they haven't dropped deep since Venezuala starting pushing them.

How the beautiful game should be played. Nothing cynical, just lads loving their football.

They should have jumpers for goalposts at this age

Congratulations to Engand. Showing the senior prima donna ponces how it's done.

Why does it? U-20 year-olds playing in a tournament and won after playing 6 games on the bounce. The national team were full of players most of whom haven't played competitvely for 3 weeks or so. Having played at the end of a long hard season. Which the U 20s haven't had. Nothing much more boils my piss footballing wise than hearing about 'overpaid rabble'. Nothing of the sort.

Fair comment but when the senior side get to the world cup we all know that we'll probably get through the group stage and then get found out by some footballing superpower like Iceland. The question is why does this keep happening? There's no easy answer but the fact remains that over the last 50 years we have underachieved quite spectacularly.

Scotland are a side full of mediocre players and the the side currently lauguishes behind Slovakia and Slovenia in the group.

They've had the same 3 week break as their opponents, yet they eclipsed the England players in effort and deserved to beat them. England should be beating sides like this at a canter, yet we have to endure the undignified spectacle of Gareth Southgate punching the air after luckily scraping a draw.

England's senior side are bottlers and more under achievement beckons in Russia.

I still think Cahill is punching above his weight as well.

Really? He's number one centre back for the champions of England, kept Terry out all season who's still got it as we'll see next season as he marshals our defence next to Micah.

I have to say I agree with PWS.

Too right. He's just a better than average central defender. Nothing special just steady.

Poor bastards, must be so tough on those poor, highly fit, well paid, half a week off every week players. Terrible that they have to run around a lot in their job. Perhaps they should quit and do something easier and less well paid like the rest of us. Overpaid rabble is being very kind. imo, of course!
