The comment on Barnsleys open end  has got me wondering if there are any in the championship,if so I want them away in late summer.

Blackburn or Wednesday, but knowing our luck it'll be something really mouthwatering like Huddersfield or Rotherham.

Quite a few people on this thread have sneered at Huddersfield as an example of the shitness that we are going to have to endure.  So I just thought I'd mention that Huddersfield were Football League champions three seasons running (in the 1920s) and that for the coming season, by offering season tickets at £179 per adult, have already shifted around 15,000 season tickets.

I've been to Huddersfield away a few times with a few mates who support a team which shall remain nameless.  It's a good away end and if memory serves there is an excellent range of Holland's pies and bacon sandwiches.  Should be an excellent day out.

Not been to Huddersfield, but I've seen that you get a decent allocation all behind one goal, so I'm looking forward to it.

That said, I don't see how you can be surprised that people are doing a bit of sneering at playing the likes of Huddersfield in what is I suspect a quintessentially shite northern town with a small club who've done nowt for 100 years.

The Wolves were big in the 50s, but you wouldn't be using that against anybody who described them as anything other than a tinpot outfit, whose entire support claim to have been apart of the 4000 attendances they got in the 4th division.

I read that Brighton have sold 23,000 season tickets, which is fantastic support

I doubt that we will sell 15,000 season tickets

Talking to a Brighton season ticket holder they get some decent additional benefits with their season tickets such as free public transport within a certain radius of the ground, interest free for 12 months, discounted drinks before the game and access to bars afterwards, they do bring a friend for a tenner similar to what we do at certain games so I think if you're a Brighton fan it's a great deal so no wonder they're popular.

I'd imagine we'd sell around about what we always sell to be honest. Range is usually 18,000 to 22,000 and we'll be somewhere at the lower end of that scale and likely average the second most after Newcastle.

Supply of tickets though is too elastic to have us selling a massive amount of season tickets. Increase the quality and cheapen the cost and you might create the conditions where people feel the need to have one to guarantee a seat.

If Villa Park only held 30,000 like the Amex, then with only 26000 home seats after away fans and segregation is taken into account, we'd probably shift more because you wouldn't be able to purchase a ticket so comfortably on a match by match basis.

As it is, with over 39,000 home tickets, there's little need for most to have one.

Brighton away

This - like the season just finished, a trip to the seaside in the height of Summer, starting with a victory, only this time hoping we don't have to wait until 2017 for our next league win!!!

The way it's drawn i think it's Blackburn Burton but not sure home or away or Barnsley who have been promoted.  It can't be Birmingham or wolves and as not sure how it's drawn it could then be Wigan or Bristol city. Depending as villa are first club beginning with A and play either b team or last lettered team. But not local teams and discussion on promoted teams.  It's actually scheduled not randomly generated from what I make out and hear

A new away day with a big allocation for thousands of Villa to see the win to start the season, Huddersfield or Barnsley may fit the bill?

Eh? It is done randomly but does factor in certain teams not playing at home on the same day (across all the divisions).

Oh I thought it was done after taking out policing local issues and politics , by alphabetic code type like the pair them up and then do reverse fixtures. They do that in prem league no? Like villa dont play home when wba or Liverpool Everton etc
