Speaking of which the live coverage is very good. Should I be complimenting Nantes or AVTV I wonder?

Nantes - and having no commentary is OK - very pleased Jack what's his name has left. Used to get on my nerves.

It's a friendly. Can people before they jump out of a window remember that. Neither side has played that well. This won't be the side that starts the season and it certainly won't be he squad that emerges from the transfer window. No doubt we need to improve but let's not make wild bottom of the bloody Championship type predictions based on this.

It just looks EXACTLY like last season - in personnel and in football. I am worried. There's two weeks to go!

Everyone knows and appreciates it's a friendly.
The fact that we are 2 weeks away from kickoff and there is no improvement in the approach, style and quality of our football,  despite having a new management team, is highly disconcerting.

Refreshing to be able to watch a match on the Villa site without Woodwood's inane banter making you want to punch the screen in.

Match is fairly dire and there appears to be absolutely no shape/style to our play at all first half. I think from here on we really need to start fielding the team RDM intends to start the season with so they can gel.

I point blank refuse to believe Cissokho, Hutton, Westwood, Gestede and Bacuna will be anywhere near the starting 11 against Wednesday.

Grealish getting ready to come on. Actually putting shin pads on - with enough tape to keep them on till half way through the season.

It was a tiny bit better towards half-time. Overall though, no options for the man in possession, Just-head shite. Can't see it working with him apart from in a blood-and-thunder 4-4-2.

A more mobile and skilful centre-forward and two decent full-backs would make a big difference IMO.

Goalie looks ok, Elphick looks a leader, I like Ayew and Gana.

Tish and Jack on for Veretout and Westwood by the looks of it.  I'd like to see Bennett on soon as well.

What's the bra type thing that seems to be the essential piece of equipment for the discerning footballer this season?
