Eric Black on Final Score......'Come Monday we dust our selves down and go again.'
I thought that line was copyrighted by Lambert.

Jesus we must be so caked in dust by now we've got a bigger desert than the Sahara.

Several people have tweeted that if Sunderland win tomorrow we're down. As somebody who hasn't fallen under the Leicester spell, that would suit me just fine.

That 92/93 season...had to be those bastards that made it official, didn't it?

Not mathematically correct as it would only put them on 30. We have 16 so we could get to 31*

*stop laughing at the back

They play each other next week, which would mean at least one side ends that day on more than 32. Therefore can only finish as high as 18th.

No I realise that and at 16 points and -41 GD we are down. I'm just saying tomorrow won't see us actually relegated even though for all intents and purposes we are right now. But yes the fact that they need to play each other deems everything moot anyway. I suppose the earth could come to an end with a massive meteor destroying everything and save us the final humiliation.

We have known this result since Tim Sherwood.

If we thought Remi Garde was the problem? Shame on you.

Could he save us in the long term? We will never know

Will we try again to fix a hangover with buying a salat? yes - and again, and again

I don't think I've ever read or heard anyone say that Remi Garde was the problem. But a lot of people doubted that he would be the solution and, certainly in the time he was here, he wasn't.

Our fans are incredible. The noise in that second half was amazing. Well done to all, and those of you who go and spend your money to watch the villa regularly.

Yeah agree completely with this, it's amazing that they could go and make all that noise while a goal down and with nothing to cheer. Our fans and Ayew are the only people who emerge from this disastrous season with any credit.

Eric Black can join the long list of people I'd happily fuck off at the end of the season. At least he's one we'll manage to get shot of.

Todays 'You've really excelled yourself with todays ineptitude' award goes to Kieron Richardson, possibly our worst ever signing.

I will never understand why we signed Richardson. Were we that skint that he was the best we could come up with in a summer where we had just survived relegation?

I think Roy Keane recommended him.

It might be phenomenally unlikely but today there is a set of results that will see us say up.

If Sunderland win tomorrow, there is no set of results under which we can survive. Therefore we will be relegated if Sunderland win tomorrow.

I left on about 78 minutes, not because of the score, or the performance or even the impending relegation, but because I had another obligation to see to that puts all this nonsense into perspective.

I feel aggrieved slightly that Palace saved their first league win of the year for today - like others I wanted it done and dusted so that we can prepare for the future, perhaps get a new manager in now (McCarthy? Perr-leese!), maybe find out what they'll be charging of season cards, etc.

It's not about the side that came back up. It's the side that went down and if you lived through it there are lots of similarities with this one. There's going to be massive change in the summer.

I disagree this one is worse. Much worse. There was a basis of a decent reconstruction job with the right man in 86-87 and some of the players others wanted.

I honestly think he is the worse left  back we have had. Worse than Bernie even. He is so bad that even a player as bad as Cissokho deserves to start ahead of him

Stelling pointed out we came back up after one season - but we had Nigel Spink, David Platt, Tony Daley, Martin Keown and Alan McInally in that side. This team makes the 87 side look like Brazil.

Do we trust Lerner to stop making bad decisions and get this right? New board aside, buck stops with him and he is by far my biggest concern as we look to the future.
I think the reason we have the new board is so that Lerner does not have to make any more crap decisions.

Well, what can you say. There was a bit more effort, Ayew and Sinclair caused them a few problems, our defence caused us problems, another mediocre side leaves VP with 3 points having not had to do much to get them.

I left after 81 mins, can't remember the last time I left early but I was bored and cold. So I didn't even see us score.

And there remains one thing to be proud of about the club at the moment, and that's us. That spell of singing in the second half was great, we even joined in up in the Upper North.
