Villa Players' Contracts
« on: April 06, 2016, 09:42:07 AM »
I've stolen this from elsewhere.

Ie when do they expire....

When you break it down it doesn't look AS bad.  With the exception of Westwood and Richards of course.  What were they thinking.

I'd like to think we could ship out the 2016 and 2017 expiries the 2018 and beyond ones might be more of a challenge.

2016 - Richardson, N'Zogbia, Kinsella, Donacien, Robinson, Calder

2017 - Guzan, Okore, Bennett, Lescott, Hutton, Kozak, Bunn, Lyden

2018 - Agbonlahor, Sanchez, Grealish, Cissokho, Gardner, Crespo

2019 - Baker, Richards, Gueye, Sinclair, Gil, Steer

2020 - Clarke, Bacuna, Westwood, Veretout, Ayew, Traore, Amavi, Gestede

2017 - Guzan, Okore, Bennett, Lescott, Hutton, Kozak, Bunn, Lyden.    Guzan, maybe MLS, Okore will find the exit door for himself,

2018 - Agbonlahor, Sanchez, Grealish, Cissokho, Gardner, Crespo.    Sanchez and Cissokho could maybe move to Spain or Portugal, the pace of the game would certainly suit Sanchez better

2019 - Baker, Richards, Gueye, Sinclair, Gil, Steer.      You've got to hope that he'll find the exit door for himself.

2020 - Clarke, Bacuna, Westwood, Veretout, Ayew, Traore, Amavi, Gestede.     Unfortunately the one's we'd most like to keep are the ones most likely to attract interest.

When you consider Robinson scores goals in the Championship it is a bit of a concern he might go this summer especially given the folly of the Bacuna deal.

Did we sell Crespo, or has he just gone out on loan?

If he's still ours, I actually think he might be worth keeping hold of for the Championship.

What have you seen in him that brings you to this conclusion?

it's more about what I've seen in the defenders that we didn't ship-out on loan!

But in all seriousness, his versatility is a big plus and, aside from lacking a bit of pace (which wouldn't be as evident in the Championship) I actually think he looked ok as a full-back. Was all at sea when Sherwood tried him as part of a back 3, but actually looked like he was attempting to communicate with, and organise, his team-mates.

He's scored two. I'd give a year or two extension but he's hardly tearing the league up.

there were a few clubs in for richards on a free, he was in a strong negotiating position. you'd think he would have something in his contract which would allow him to go in the event of relegation.

Two is pretty good by our standards!

Didn't realise it was that low.  Oh well worth keeping though I think.

You say its not 'AS bad'.
But remember for every player on 30K per week that equates to £1.5m per year.
multiply that by the number of shit players, its still a whole lot of dosh leaking out.

Holding on to youth players is a tricky business. On the one hand, you may have them before they're ready - look at the likes of Afobe, who I think left Arsenal and basically tore up the lower divisions, which I'd like to think is where our new superstar striker is going to come from; on the other, you give them a bumper contract on the inkling they'll continue to develop and you end up with nothing more than a squad player.

From the 2017 expiries onwards I reckon that's about £42m per annum based on an average wage of £30k per week.  How much will we lose in revenue per annum?!
