Just sad in what we have become the ghost of a club twitching in it's death throes.

Beeb site

Quote
Aston Villa manager Remi Garde: "The result is not positive but for sure the attitude and commitment for the 90 minutes was better than in previous weeks.

"I am frustrated for the players because they fought, but once again we have been too fragile defensively. We hit the post twice and didn't have the luck. But we have to fight against that.

"It is hard but then it is still mathematically possible so we need to fight. The situation is awful and it is massive challenge to win enough games to stay up. But you have to be proud and fight until the last minute.

"I love football and hate defeat. Five in a row. I don't think I've experienced that in my career."

Oh and having stewards going in to take down a small banner that has no swear words etc on it is pathetic and makes the club look even worse.

happened by me in the lower north is the club just thinking up new ways to piss fans off?

as for the game, spuds will never have an easier game, fuck me we are just devoid of anything

I watched the second half online. Midway through the half the commentators started reading some of the banners around the ground, having a general chit chat about what Spurs run in was like, how villa could prepare for the championship. They weren't even really discussing the game any more because as a contest it was completely over.

We need a few more war analogies from the General to keep our spirits up otherwise I think we might lose again.

I could see it going on from the Lower Holte. I think it was ridiculous that the stewards went in mob handed take down a "LERNER OUT" banner someone was holding up. Makes the club look pathetic and risks creating an incident out of nothing.

Also some credit to the Spurs fans for starting a "Lerner out" chant and giving a load of grief to the private security clown who took the second banner.

Thought Gana was the only decent player for us, although he switched off for the first. It was never a foul and he was protesting whilst spurs were taking the free kick.
Thought Gil was very poor. His replacement Green looked decent although he had 3 men on him at times and no team mate coming short to help him out.
Guzan played ok as well he still finds touch with his kick outs.
Hutton and Cissokho see plenty of the ball but they don't do anything constructive with it.

I don't think that is a great Spurs team. The team with Bale and Van Der Vaart were much better. however they're well drilled and have a nice shape.

Thought we worked really hard for a change in the first half - even Westwood played quite well - and, quelle surprise, a team without Flabby and Richards showed energy and desire. Rode our luck with them hitting the bar and the post before the inevitable, but really we just haven't got the quality to hurt teams any more. We must be the only team in the league who lets the opposition take a quick free kick for their first - why didn't anyone stand in front of the ball - maybe take a yellow but delay the free kick. We simply don't have a collective football brain. And how did Justhead miss that one which could have got us back in the game? But clutching at straws really - the reality is we're a very poor side and we are where we deserve to be.

it was good natured until the gestapo waded in, not exactly sure what they would be throwing you out for

fair enough if it had obscenities on it but some left over emulsion on an old bedsheet?

cue more banners at the chelsea game
