Surprised at that. I wouldn't have thought the crowds in County Championship make much difference to the clubs' financial outlook nowadays, is the prize/sponsorship money much different?

Meanwhile:
Surrey 120/3 require 162 with that same session and a half. Providing keep wickets in hand should do that.
