Unable to get off to sleep tonight - perhaps it's the excitement of the anticipation of our second win and the start of the way back ?

Thats not the light at the end of the tunnel mate, its just a burglars torch.

More likely to be delayed reaction to those sprouts.

I shudder to think of the midfield we will see tomorrow. Can't see him taking a gamble on Lydon, so if he won't play Gil, Grealish or Adama from the off, it could well be Gana-Bacuna-Richardson. There's a cheery thought.

I suspect he has probably had enough of Richardson though so expect Gana-Bacuna with Gil ahead and Sinclair and Veretout either side of Gestede. Totally lightweight and I just can't see us scoring. None of that lot have mustered a goal under Garde.

We have to start well, go at them quick and early, try to silence the crowd. I still expect no better than a draw though. We've done well up there for the last few years but this current side has no balls and too many unforced errors in them.   Please prove me wrong Villa.

I see Sam is on the front pages saying he will quit. I hope this builds a toxic atmosphere for the home crowd. Anything to give us an advantage.

Our combined points total would barely get us out of the relegation zone. It will be unbridled shite.

I was up at 6 this morning to get from Sussex to Sunderland and am now on the first of several trains. I won't say what the fare is, but it's well into 3 figures. I just hope against hope that Villa will make it worth the travelling. A win would be nice, but at least let's have some heart and commitment.

You are a true Villan, Frank. A hero.

I very much hope (he says with a grimace) you and we have some joy today.

Frank are you mental?

That's commitment way beyond and above the call of duty. I take my hat off to your sir.

On a slight tangent- there was a link on the Guardian website I clicked on this morning to a blogpost containing a very interesting, but also quite depressing post-mortem of our last relegation season. I'd post it in a separate thread if I could find it again, but I can't. It was of interest to me mainly because I was only 13 at the time and hadnt really had a full appreciation of what that season entailed up to now. If anyone can find it, it's worthy of its own thread.

Anyway Sunderland v Villa. Two poor sides and the shit spectacle we've become used to, will inevitably unfold. Reckon we'll scrape a win though. 1-2

Today is the day the whole world has been waiting for, Sunderland v Villa. El Crapico.

They're slightly less crap than us and will be more up for it knowing they could still escape if they beat us. 2 or 3 nil to them.
