One seriously unforgettable evening, apparently, The Liverpool players said it was the only time they ever saw the Magnificent Bob Paisley - for whom i have an Ocean of respect - lose his temper.

A truly unforgettable evening - I'd never seen anything like it before and doubt I will ever see the likes of that first half again.  Completely destroyed them, almost every time we had the ball you just thought if we can just score again now - and we did - frequently.

Another thing I remember is that we could've had at least a couple more in the second half - I remember us missing a couple of decent half chances and Clemence making a couple of fine saves.

Ironically, Newbon went to VP and watched the first-half unfold from the old Ansells box and realised his big error! There is some amateur grainy footage of the game but I've never managed to track it down. Andy Gray has verified this.

One hell of a first half, second half was still good, but, Liverpool just played to stop the rot.
A wonderful team performance.
I think Emlyn Hughes and Phil Thompson must have had many a sleepless night after that game, as Andy Gray and John Deehan ripped them apart.
Dennis Mortimer was outstanding, and should have been cemented in the England team.
I'd forgotten that we had our reserve keeper, Jake Findley, and an 18 year old centre half, Charlie Young, starting.

What an unforgettable night. I went with my Liverpool supporting mate. He disappeared at half time ha ha. That was the team that went on to win the European cup at the end of that season. Just shows, what a great performance that was. Shame there is no TV evidence

I think it may have been Trevor East (Newbon's boss and a Derby fan) who chose to send the cameras to the Baseball Ground.

The Newcastle game was played with snow and ice still on the Witton End which if I am not mistaken was the last time that we had  the Witton End as we knew  it.  Newcastle brought an incredible support.  I am sure at the time they were 4th in the table, don't know how that has stuck in my mind.

Little other than just a feeling of complete awe about was happening sticks in my mind about the game, I was only nine though to be fair!

I only got to come to a few games a season with my Dad at that point, so was really chuffed that when I said I wanted to go to this one he said yes!

We'd thumped Wrexham 5 - 1 in the League cup on my Birthday In October, so I was seen as a bit of a lucky charm amongst my Dad's mates for a while!

The most exciting attacking Villa team in my lifetime simply crushed the best team in Europe that night. We were an unstoppable force at home.
