Be still my beating heart

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Samy_Kehli

Not good enough for his Ligue 2 club so loaned out to Belgium. Old enough that its clear he is unlikley to ever develop into a top level talent. A sub average midfielder which ignores our most pressing need in the team.

Yup. Perfect new regieme signing. I beleive this link.

Welcome Samy.

Typical of the type of player we've been signing for the last 5 years which the very reason we find ourselves in this mess.

On the plus side, he scores a few. Which for a midfielder is alien to us, Actually, for any player it's alien to us.

According to twitter we're signing a young French player called Samy Kehli for 2m Euros tomorrow...

He is 25 isn't he? Hardly young?

You're right. Plus the 'source' has said he's a striker, whereas everybody else has him down as midfielder. I'm calling bullshit on this one.

I just think Lerner is trying to pay out as little as possible as he bides his time for a buyer. For all the written off loans, the fact is there have been titanic TV deals before the one coming up, and we've practically spent peanuts. I'm convinced there won't be huge amounts spent on a rebuild because it's not going to be worth his while.
Were a rapidly depreciating asset that he holds no interest in. For his and our sakes he needs to move us on and just take the financial hit. It's our only way back, otherwise we'll continue in the downward spiral of cost cutting we've been locked in.

He has invested £250m-£300m in the club.  I would say he has a big interest in it.  It is easy to play with other peoples money.  I should imagine £50m (or whatever) hit on selling the club makes him very interested.  The guy does not know what he is doing and how to protect his investment but is very interested in his investment.

Lerner's detached disinterest over the past half decade is more than suggestive to me that he has lost interest. Yes he has spent a lot of money (in the main very badly), but he strikes me as a man who sees himself as a philanthropist rather than a businessman, hence his donations to the National gallery. In his mind he was restoring a grand old institution hence, the custodian shite he often spouts. The reality is without the protection from  the football machine afforded by O'Neill, he realised he was woefully out of his depth and swimming with some pretty voracious sharks. I'm guessing he wanted out at this point but was in too deep, so he goes into hiding and hopes that whoever he appoints can protect him from having to deal with the mess he's got himself into.

Now he wants shot, a pampered privileged rich kid like Randy is not cut out for the cut and thrust at the sharp end of English football. He'll get back what he can then cut and run.

Indeed. It's no coincidence that pretty much any player who could be considered a success in their time at Villa in the last few years has been in the £5 million plus bracket. I may have forgotten someone, but I can't think of any who have come in for less than that and actually been a success.

Let's hope he has as big an impact as another Algerian bought from the French second division has had this season.

That would be nice. I am so beat down I genuinely would welcome him if he came , god knows I have been crying out for any signs of life from the club any signing would indicate at least a pulse.

6m on Dwight Gayle tomorrow would be a decent move. Would give us something different.

Possibly Westwood? I dont know about "success" but we probably have got decent value for money out of him.

Second division of a poor league, has only played 250 minutes this season, costs bugger all. Sounds believable.

He's been ok, but I'd say success is a push. He's played because we've not signed players of the required quality.

Well he's played over 100 league games for us if that's what you mean. Absolutely dreadful player who is out of his depth in the Premier League though.

Riyad Mahrez from Leicester was from the second division of the French league, cost bugger all and had only scored 6 goals in 3 years.

It doesn't necessarily mean that he's shit. Probably, I'll grant you, but not definitely.

Indeed, it's about time we pulled a rabbit out of the hat and found a bargain.
