Billy please do not confuse my answer to Villa for life as any support for Lerner, because it is not, but any form of protest I believe should have an achievable goal and also have some form of ill effect on the person it is aimed at. We are all I firmly believe of the understanding that we are now an annoyance to Lerner nothing else and yes if it makes people feel better letting off steam at Lerner carry on, but water of a ducks back comes to mind as far as Lerner is concerned.

How is Shropshire born Hollis any less of a local businessman than Cheshire born Doug Ellis was?
He isn't that wasn't my point really. It just appears that  Randy has picked some bloke to run a Premier League Football club who had never thought about running a football club previously. Call me picky but unsurprisingly it seems a bit hair brained from Randy and I predict it isn't going to end well

Agreed. And using terms like embattled or whatever, also doesn't help either. Not the best way to introduce someone. I already have a negative about the guy now, right from the start instead of thinking he's here to help.
Not to mention his " we wasted 80 million in the Summer" comments when the team had some momentum going Still no surprise , he is just an addition to the other under qualified utter pratts we are run by.

I agree that he's got a lot to prove and needs to show he's the right man for the job, it was the Man City and 'local businessman' bits that I don't think have any relevance to whether he can do the job or not.

It hasn't of course, it just adds to my irritation.

Villa for life, "Lerner Out' sign, Randy was the one who had them printed for gods sake.

Randy Lerner allegedly wants to go so let's lay off him?  It's just not a solid argument, for me.  Even if he  wants to go he still has a huge, huge duty of care to Aston Villa.   His neglect of the Club these past five years is not acceptable on any level and, again, for me, he deserves every ounce of stick  gets.  Banners, chanting, boycotts, you name it - drive this poisonous idiot from the door.

The wilful neglect once he got bored has led us to this. As a custodian he's been execrable... If he's pursuing the sale of the club with the same vigour he's employed in running us, is it any wonder there has been no buyer. He's damaged us to the extent no one will pay what he's  looking for in terms of price, but the man is so stupid he's probably raised the price now we're all but gone. We're in for a very grim time. Hollis probably has a remit to sell what ever saleable assets we have and maintain us was a championship club and if we get lucky get promoted and get back on the gravy train and do likewise so he can claw some dough back. He's no interest in us whatsoever. We're not scared of relegation, are we missing something? every club in the prem appears to be... And we're not going to waste a crisis apparently. Cooperate bullshit speak. Clueless Wankers the lot of them...

PWS the problem being are we really sure what sort of task he has been brought in to perform.

I really have a fear that he is tasked with asset stripping, i.e. Body Moor, overseeing along with Fox stadium naming rights, any other bits that would be sellable, so when Randy has to take a lower price, he has regained some of his outlay. I hope to god I am wrong, but there is something not playing out how it should be and I think Remi smells it too.

It is all guesswork regarding Hollis.  My guess is that he has been brought in to shunt Fox sideways and prevent any more cronyism and short lists of one. That and to count beans of course.

I just think there is more to it Brian.
Randy has put what ever price on the club and there has been no takers, so fair play after MON the belt on signings and wages was tightened, how that has been handled is another debate but trying to put the business on an even keel, but just when that from a book point of view is happening, some bugger opens the trap door.
Now we are into a depreciating asset straight away, so instead of X amount it was worth, he is now going to have to reduce it by Y, so why not see what I can get from some of the non-playing assets as at least they seem to have appreciated in value, not like the playing ones.
I am concerned he has totally traveled past the point of no return where the benefit of the club is his main objective, however badly this has been handled in the past and KPMG are very good asset strippers as we all know.

I see Bamford has gone on loan to Norwich, I always felt that was the most achievable of our loan options.

Would this be the first transfer window under Lerner when we haven't spent?

Hear what you say Kuwait and there is much smoke coming from that particular fire.  However, I still think that if Lerner is being advised by anybody with business experience and judgement, and I accept that is a big if because the signs are that he makes decisions on a whim, the essential factor that will drive a sale of the club is evidence that we have stopped deteriorating.

I do not like to be subjective but in my own experience in a long career of buying and selling when you want to snap up a bargain you wait until the very last moment before you make a move.  That there are buyers out there for Villa I do not have the slightest doubt.  What they are waiting for is the price to bottom out.  That will almost certainly be when we start winning games in the Championship and attendances start to rise.  That is the time they will all come running out of the woodwork waving their chequebooks with all the players' agents following them trying to sell us their unwanted clients.

To all intents and purposes the club is being auctioned.  The bidding will not start until a potential buyer thinks we have gone as low as we are going to go.
