Is the deadline Feb 1st?

Yes. I'm hoping we see Kalinic, Debuchy and a CF before then. Big week needed.

I want 4. Keeper, Debuchy, 2 forwards

Would Rob Green not be a decent shout for a keeper for the rest of this season and next season if we do go down? Was just thinking out loud via my keyboard.... I'll run that one up the flag pole and see does anyone salute.....
Saluting.Excellent keeper for his clubs but disregarded by many ,I believe unfairly, for one horrendous howler for England v USA in WC 2010.
Have you not seen some of his howlers for West Ham and QPR?

Yeah, we need a keeper who'd be an upgrade on Guzan, not even more error prone.

Greedy. You are right though, we could do with a wide forward too.

We had Grant Holt on loan once - he was wide.

Greedy indeed. But 2 forwards of some description should not be so hard to get. They only have to be more mobile and have more pace than Gestede and Kozak. Ayew is great, but Sinclair goes on his holidays for huge periods of a game and the others are soooo slooooow! Its like watching people run in slow motion.

Mandanda was clearly first choice. This guy must have been second.

I still can't believe they are not trying to find a way round that.

If you're still talking about the Croatian then there's definitely more to it then we know. he won't have failed a work permit appeal after an application as he wouldn't need one. So, unless there is some doubt about his nationality or how he got his nationality, there must be something seriously dodgy in his or a member of his families application to join him.

Appreciate that this is normally your area of expertise, but that's not correct - he does need a work permit.

Croatian nationals still need a permit to work in the UK (and half a dozen other countries) until July 2018. Something to do with both countries agreeing to a transitional period of freedom of movement following EU accession.

Leicester had to get one for Kramaric last January as well, so I expect that it is the work permit.

Ah, that's right. He could have failed on many grounds then. He wouldn't actually need a Work permit if he was exceprional in his field, which he isn't, so a refusal could be on many grounds. A basic one would be a lack of English.

Garde has said he hopes to have players in this week so they are working on it I presume.

If Debuchy wanted to come to us he would have come by now, obviously waiting to see if he gets any better offers, if not he might decide to come but don't give me any crap of actually wanting to come to Villa!

Sunderland are in for him now.

considering both are rubbish, surely a move here is better than going back to the north east for 4 months!

given our situation I actually don't want us signing people who are happy to come here right now.  I want people that we've had to work hard to convince to join us.  Players that are happy to come are either not good enough and they know it or they've just doing it for the pay.  I want players that really don't want a relegation on their record and have only agreed to join because Garde has convinced them that we can get out of it.

But it won't happen.

Why would Liverpool, whop are short of strikers, let their £32.5m signing go? Especially as they are chasing top 4 - however remote that may be. yes things are not working out for him but Liverpool won't just release him on loan. It's absurd to even contemplate such a move and the rationale behind it for them.

Would he come? maybe, maybe not. If he ends playing with crap players who give him very little service how does that help him before the Euros?
Yes, anyone can make a hypothetical case for him joining but the reality is that it makes no sense for Liverpool, and more of a risk for Benteke than staying put and trying to turn it around with better players at a club that isn't a shambles.

Liverpool are going for Alex Teixeira from Shaktar.  Therefore Benteke could be surplus. What a better way for him to gain some confidence and sign us. He knows the club, the vast majority of his team mates.
We're talking about Liverpool who signed Andy Carroll for £50m. Therefore anything is possible.

You're about £15m out on that figure. Not that it's not still a fuck of a lot of money.

You're right.  £35m....Not far off what they paid for Benteke ;)

Although he's not doing as well as they'd like, Benteke is still their top scorer so far this season. I'd be very surprised if they let him go anywhere this window.

Overall or in the league ?
