Well presumably we've agreed to sell him, as they can't just offer him a deal.

Just breaking on Sky that LA Galaxy have offered Jolean Lescott a 3 year contract

I'd let him go if we could get someone better in.

No mean feat given our impending relegation

Why would we have run up debts this season if we had spent a bit more on fleshing out what was the worst squad still in the premier league last season? Would it have cost that much to make improvements on Richardson? Bacuna? Westwood? Guzan? We were on the eve on the biggest contract in football history, absolute mega riches and you are worrying about spending a little extra on improving the worst squad in the division who have just sold their best players. How would we have gotten in to massive debt seeing as 2 seasons ago we had almost broken even and since then we have lowered the wage bill even more?

The problem would have been if we were unable to sell them. Those 4 players would have cost around £7m in wages for this season alone unless we could have offset some of this by loaning out.

I agree that we should have spent more in the summer and targeted the defence more.

We're able to give them permission to talk before agreeing a fee if we want to.

If you weren't fussed whether he stays or goes, you might let the player decide if he's interested in the move before spending loads of time negotiating transfer fees.

I'd really rather we didn't dump Lescott now. Out defence has improved immeasurably since he and Okore started playing together, why disrupt that when we are in our position? He didn't play well earlier in the season but in the second halves at Newcastle and home games with West Ham and Palace he has looked like the experienced head we thought we were signing.

Rather Lescott stayed - defence looks stronger with him and Okore as CB's. Don't want to start leaking goals again which we can ill afford!

Agreed. He's scored a couple of important goals too. Well, maybe not that important when we look back at the end of the season.

If Andre Ayew is really available from Swansea I would be in there.

I can't remember the last time we had a pair of brothers in the team together.  Did the Moore bros play together?  I think Bruce and Neil Rioch did. Our great stalwart on here's cousins Frank and Amos Moss certainly did.

If Sunderland do get him I would be a bit gutted that we haven't tried to put them together. Andre works just as hard so would suit Garde.

I would not let Lescott go either. Easily out best centre half when played with Okore

I think it's more a case of any deals that were tentatively in place in December were suddenly non runners due to the dropped points through December leaving so far adrift.

As tempting as it might be we can't force players to sign for us.

Seen today that Sam Byram from Leeds is going to Everton for £3m in spite of us having made a similar bid earlier. Reason he is not coming to us apparently is due to our league position and probable relegation.
I was told by an alleged Leeds ITK in the summer that we were in for him but the deal failed to come off for whatever reason, thought to be Leeds asking for silly money then.

Isn't our 25 man Premier League squad already full?

Nzgobia, Cole, Richardson, Gardner, Steer. Contributed the square route of fuck all. There was space in the squad, we just haven't used it. We fleshed it out with utter garbage

If they don't expect us to stay up this season Lescott will be culled now to save on the wages I'd expect.

I'd go for Ayew as well. On Lescott I'd rather we didn't sell him, he's just put in a big performance, he's forming a partnership with Okore and I doubt we'd get an adequate replacement.

0% chance of Ayew deciding he wants to get relegated unless he wants to spend some more time with his brother.
