It'll be interesting to see what Sherwood's mates have to say, when there was so obvious an improvement with the same squad of players.

They are making it all about how bad/unlucky Citihad were.

Fuck the fuckers

Twenty minutes after a Villa game finished, and I'm not feeling gutted. In fact, I would almost describe myself as "happy". Happy? Ah yes, I remember that...
Happy?! I'm fuckin delighted!!!

Quite amusing listening to Richards and CLark in the post-match interview - they're really trying to be polite on questions about how Garde has changed things already at the club. The most telling comment came from Clark - he said "I think you could see it on the pitch, we were much more organised" (or words very similar to that).

Yes, initially I was quite disappointed that their responses did not carry much positivity, but it was all round awkward.

Amavi seems to have lost some confidence in getting the ball into the box. I suppose that's what being dropped for no good reason and replaced by Kieron Richardson does for you. Nice one Tim.

I thought that was more to do with him only really having Ayew to aim for in there and he chose the safer option of keeping the ball.

I think Richards is a spiky chap. I felt he was just holding off saying he wanted Sherwood to have stayed. And he should shut up about having feelings for Man City. Villa only Micah, just Villa. Villa.

Happy with that, Gil was superb for 60 minutes, Veretout was my man of the match though, he never stopped, he still looked fit in injury time, great engine. Small step in the right direction.

I wondered if Amavi was reluctant to commit too far forward because he was under strict instructions to keep the shape at all costs. Also City were pretty threatening down our left (most of their dangerous attacks were down that side), so maybe that was in his mind too.

I think Alan Smith would rather lose a testicle than say something positive about Villa.

Bit harsh - I spoke to the guy once and got the impression he is always willing us to do well, thing is, if he did what the other clowns do - i.e Thompson with Liverpool, you lose all integrity. Sky have some real morons, but in my opinion Smith, Carragher and someone who I expected to hate - Neville make good, honest points. Of course it remains to be seen if they wax lyrical about us when we play consistently well and move away from the gloomy perennial struggle, please God we find out!  ;D

Having posted on page 2 about the positives, I'm now having a flirtation with negative thoughts in so much as despite all the effort and better shape we could've easily be sat here talking about a 2-0 defeat. How Guzan got his bonce in the way and their fella hit the bar from a few yards certainly showed we had a bit of luck today. Long may it continue.

I like what Henry said; "When you're organised, you create your own luck"

Could have been. But the problem wasn't that he didn't get forward, it was that he got forward then passed it backwards. I still think he's going to be a blinding signing in the long run, he's just got a touch of class about him.

I'd also like to say I thought the ref had a good game, very even handed in his decisions. Some of the established refs could take a lesson from this guy.

Probably our best result of the season even though it's not a win.
