It's all been said already. Richardson for Amavi wtf? Westwood still in, Sanchez on the bench, wtf x 2? Who out of Ayew, Gil and Grealish will be tracking back when we're under pressure? The remarks on other threads about a tombola being used to pick the team seem pretty spot on. I think this will be a pants-down-and-brace-for-the-spanking afternoon. Prove me wrong Tim. Or go.

It's a brave line up. I'd have put an extra midfielder in there but their defence is dodgy and Terry's not having a good time of it so who knows.

Terry could play this game blindfolded and he'd still have Gestede in his pocket.

Like the Liverpool defence did?

In some ways, it's a similar line up to Leicester. Two fowards, with Gil and Grealish behind them. If he's have packed out the midfield, he might have been moaned at for not being more attacking and having a go.

I think the attacking players he has chosen are fine Clamps. It's the players he has chosen to support and allow them to do their job that I'm concerned about. What justification is there in dropping arguably our best player this season for Richardson. Or retaining Westwood?

Like I said earlier, i'd have thrown in another midfielder personally.

As for Amavi, that's an odd one. I wonder if he's carrying a knock?

He's throwing darts and a dartboard to pick the team, unfortunately he's like the shit team mate on bullseye at it.

More than likely. Sanchez for Westwood and Amavi for Richardson and I'd be feeling better about things. As it is...

Looks like he's picked a "broken team", 6 to sit deep (hence no Amavi) and the other 4 to stay up top. Can work sometimes, but other times the guys up top get starved of the ball and you play 6 v 10.

Sanchez just back from international duty so probably jet lagged to feck. Amavi is great going forwards but at fault defensively a few times? Ah sure well know at 5pm how crap the line up is. I just hope its not a cricket score again.....

Gil and fairy Grealish in the same team; ridiculous! Glad now that this is the first game I've missed this season.

I would probably have gone with Richardson over Amavi at left back, but would of moved him to left midfield where his crosses can do some damage. Amavi also plays midfield for France.

I would of gone with:

                            Guzan

       Hutton  Richards   Lescott   Richardson

         Traore    Sanchez  Gana     Amavi

                                   Grealish/Gil

                       Gestede/Ayew

I think we will find there will be a massive gap between the defence and forwards because our midfield will either sit too deep or won't be able to keep possession. If we can keep possession when we have it and run at them we have a chance. It's when we don't, can we stop them from playing with it, and if we win it back how far away are the attacking players?

Amavi is certainly a strange one but keep it tight for the first 45 minutes and once they have to start having to stretch themselves looking for a goal I'd bring on Amavi for Gil (or one of those players)

On that team selection it is clear that Sherwood wants away.

Purely an observation...10 of the new players are in todays match squad; 5 of them are starting. Not sure whats happened to Veretout as no mention of an injury.
