When I told my wife we'd be spending a couple of days in Southampton as part of our trip to the UK, the first thing she said was "is there a genuine tourist attraction there, or are the bloody Villa playing?!" It's very handy for The New Forest if that's any help? Lymington is lovely once you get through the traffic.......and, errrrm..... there might be a big impressive ship in at the docks that you could go and see.

The Royal Southampton Yacht Club is a nice play to go for a few light beers in the afternoon .
