When did toilet smashing become all the rage? Was it a case that the toilets were so bad in the 70s and 80s that there wasn't much point biffing them in?

I remember in the 1980s I'd wait till the point at which my bladder was starting to rupture rather than go to the bogs in a football ground.

I didn't see this so much at Villa Park, but in the late 80s used to attend matches on the Gallowgate End at Newcastle quite often, and there you'd hear "stand back, stand back" (actually logistically incorrect advice) during the match and some bloke behind you would just be pissing where he stood.

Ha! Crikey, what's wrong with the Scots? Actually that's quite like scumbags at concerts who piss in bottles and then lob them forwards.

My Dad is a nose. The night before the 77 LC final all my mates had tickets, but I didn't. My dad went into town, toured the pubs looking for tickets and managed to secure us a couple.

We drove down to Wembley, got in the ground, realised we were in the Everton end. My dad kept telling me to shut the fuck up and put my scarf away (would do neither). We started getting stick from the scousers, one of whom threw a bottle of piss at us, which basically drenched my dad and his brand new sheepskinish 1970s coat.

It stank so much he had to bin it. The poor fucker. I'd never be that nice to my son.

My best mate's dad is a proper nose , but he took my mate down around the time we were going well under Taylor.

I still delight in reminding him of it today, once he's finished telling me how they should have won the cup in 1975.

I remember a visit to Highbury once where the piss was flowing like a fast running river out of the doors of the actual toilet block

You had to wade through 2 inches of piss to get to the urinal by the time you got there it seemed almost pointless
Mind you it was the same at lots of grounds though

Even so still prefer Highbury to the new one

I recall queuing for a piss at old Wembley in 96 only to realise it was against a wall, not in a urinal

When I lived in Bartley Green there were plenty of Villa there, and in Northfield, Weoley Castle etc. It's a total myth that they dominate the south of Brum.

Agree. I lived in Northfield and although a(n un)healthy dose of Noses Villa more than matched their numbers across Northfield, Weoley Castle, Cotteridge, Kings Norton, Longbridge etc etc Bournville is a nice area so clearly that was Villa and the end of the Nose.

I grew up in Warley, realistically I should of been a tesco fan, but just kept feeling sick with there stripey vest.
So thankfully, chose a quality team, spent a lot of time over in quinton as a lad, and would say that was pretty much more villa than the scum.
As I got older, would drink in the the castle, the cock, the hobsons, stonehouse and these were a lot more blues based areas, ie, Bartley, Weoley.
So to reiterate, scum hole areas = the filth
Classy areas = claret and blue faithful.

that was like the toilet we used to get at the back of  the old tilton road end when it was all standing
no roof and just a wall to piss against

I hope we nail wooden boards across the entrance to all the toilets and close all the refreshment stands as they did to us.

I don't.

I hope we act with grace and good intentions to them, as fellow lovers of football. I wouldn't want us to ever sink to their shitty fucking level.

villa fans smashed thier toilet up at  the carling cup match in 2010

Remember the toilets at the Sty being smashed in the late 70's - the same match that we had darts thrown at us driving back into town - taken as a whole we are classier than the Blose but the addition of alcohol to almost any group of people will allow the development of arsehole-tendencies I'm afraid

The destruction of the tea kiosk and dividing fence at Filbert Street sits long in the memory...

There are plenty of Villa fans in south Brum and Solihull, but those areas are also fertile breeding grounds for knuckledraggers. The point is, you don't find concentrations of knuckledraggers anywhere else. You get the odd few in north Brum, like anxious bonobos separated from the group.

The main difference is that Villa fans aren't snobby about where their fellow fans come from. If you're from Worcestershire or Warsaw, you're hardly a glory hunter if you support the Villa, so you're welcome to join us.

But knuckledraggers seem to think that because Villa have fans from further afield, we have no Brummie fans, which is patently fucking ridiculous. Yet, a good number of their own come from Solihull. The irony hurtles over their flea-infested heads. The tramps.

I'm seeing an increasing number of those shitty Peaky Blinder updates appear on Facebook in relation to this game.  Talk about flogging a dead horse.  They've really got themselves down as some kind of sinister mob.  In flat caps.

I seem to remember Maine Road having some pretty bad bogs "back in the day". There's nothing like spending your week's wages on a pair of new, rare trainers to wear at the football and then having to paddle through piss that came up to the lace holes. The good old days, eh?

They are so deluded they think the threat of Lulu violence carries any sort of pulsating menace. If they intend to come looking for trouble, which they won't unless they're lobbing bottles behind a police line, then I'm sure they'll find that as ever we've got their measure.

The club decide the number and location of away fans, not the police. Now as you were.
