Excellent result - much improved second half and a lot of positives to come out the game.

Really like the look of Veretout, CB's did really well - Amavi MOTM.

I like! Brilliant from Richards and Clark, the latter was man of the match for me. Takes the pressure off as we get used to playing with each other and Jordan x 3 get up to speed with the style and pace of football in this league

Bournemouth have a nice system, think they'll do fine. I don't think we looked particularly good, but a clean sheet, a debut goal and three points make my weekend.

Benteke, who?

Any team bar the top four would have been overwhelmed by their gusto in the first half. What is so impressive is that we soaked it up, picked them off when we needed to, and defended well. It wasn't like we didn't create any other chances either - Gueye should have scored, Gabby too. Great win, you can't expect much more than what we did today.

A win and a clean sheet, that'll do.  Wasn't a classic, but hey.

There were loads of mitigating circumstances had we struggled today, other posters have explained them well. Great result.

Richards was brilliant second half and Gestede will be a handful for any defence all we have to buy is a player that can cross the ball.

Really bad first 45.

Second half was much better, way more open and most players up'd their performance. I thought Clark, Amavi and Richards plus the two subs Sanchez and Gestede all did very well when coming on.

Toss up between Clark & Richards for MOTM for me.

3 Points on the board ;D

Great result. Right now that's all we need. It will take time for the new players and Sherwood to get up to speed.

The important thing is we improved as the game went on. We created very little which is a concern and rode our luck first half but once we got Sinclair off and Rudy on, we looked more purposeful going forward. Delighted for the players to get the three points, they all worked bloody hard even if the end product was mostly a bit tatty.

Good result. We were better in the second half. The first half was very poor. Seemed to be a little too early for Ayew and Veretout. Both struggled I felt. Ayew in particular barely got a touch and when he did he gave it away, aside from one good ball to release Gabby.

Gueye had a solid debut I felt. Put himself about well and was composed on the ball.
Amavi was very good at times, but a little sloppy in others positionally. But, what he did show was how threatening he could potentially be on the break.

Richards was MOTM for me. One error aside he was very good. His pace proved useful in covering the gaps Bacuna was leaving. He won almost everything in the air too. Clark did well. Together they look a potentially good pairing.

Gabby was pretty typical. The odd good surge in among a lot of nothing. Sinclair was anonymous. Sanchez made a difference when he came on.

Gestede looked good when he came on. Not just the goal but he picked out a couple of good passes to set Gabby on runs, so it seems he'll be more than just a lump. What is clear though, is that he'll have a lot of joy if we give him the right service. It won't be remotely subtle when Gestede is up top, but he'll probably get goals. Defenders can't handle strikers like that these days.

So what is clear today? 2-3 signings still required, and a little more (quality) experience.
Westwood isn't a starter. He just doesn't offer enough. I'd put Carlos in ahead of him.
Gabby's time has passed.
