If you were a regular AGM attendee you'll remember Peter, who was always good for a Doug wind-up, hoped that Mervyn King's humour didn't mean he was a wit of a banker and had the ability to say something that led to the audience being silent for a split-second before they caught up with him. He was also an H&V writer, friends with the Moss family and the father (or so he claims he's always been led to believe by his wife) of Simon, who still writes for us and also runs the BBC.
Peter's been taken ill recently so in the only public forum I know, get better soon ol' chap.

I don't know Peter, but the father of Simon deserves respect and best wishes for that alone. Get well soon Peter, come back Simon.

I remember reading a few years back some great stories of Peter at the AGM's. By all accounts he brought some much needed life to the planned dullness. I think I met him a few years back with that long haired layabout son of his. You could see the shame in his eyes.
All the best, Peter and a speedy recovery.

Thank you for the comments (including the accurately rude one about me). He's as okay as you can expect an old bugger to be and will be very happy to be reminded of some names from here. He's still kicking and refusing to grant me my rightful inheritance. To add my own bit of praise, he's the reason I'm a Villa supporter and I'll never forgive him for it. First game in the 30s (his, not mine), was taken to matches in wartime by Mush Callaghan (who was a copper with my granddad) and later by Frank Moss Jnr. Once made the mistake of praising Duncan Edwards in earshot of Mrs Moss. Those who know why this would lead to an uncharacteristic tirade will be as old as my dad probably. As far as we're aware, neither Randy Lerner nor any recent Scottish managers are responsible for his sudden incarceration in the NHS. It might be a delayed reaction to O'Neill though!
Thanks again.

Pass on my very best wishes Simon - if he was a friend of the Moss family...
Coincidentally met up with one of my cousins yesterday and we discussed fiery Frank Jnr and the rather more gentle Amos at some length.
I am hoping to meet up with the wife of the boys' younger brother Dennis very soon - she will have much stronger memories of my uncle and the boys...I will pass on the news about your Dad.
All the best!

I saw Peter in action at an AGM once, and he was the best bit about it by far.
