I do wonder what goes through Rikki's mind on occasions like these. Not that it makes much difference in this game.

From a selfish point of view, I have made a fair bit of money this season betting a ton on him to be the next man out at odds around 8/11.

I would have lost this time.

He does the right thing for me, which is to go out and play his natural game, the issue is that we're putting him into a position where that's not good for the team far too often.  It's the same defence as if Stokes gets 30 from 20 in a game like Lords where run don't matter but keeping your wicket safe does, it's just not what those players do and it's not fair to expect it from them when the players above them have failed to do what they're in the team for.

I was promised rain.

The batting has been pretty poor for most of the season. Need at least two new batsmen in for next season.

Got on the field about 10 minutes ago at New Road
Notts now require a further 62 with 7 wkts in hand which assuming Notts get them and we lose puts Pears firmly back in the brown stuff!!

Woakes gone 42
227 all out

Hants on to 107 points same as Pears obviously Pears have got their bonus points(6 i think) to add on. Sussex require 220 with 7 wickets in hand to go above Hants and Pears
if they should do so.
Yorks 50 ahead of us with game in hand. CJ is only fairly confident of retaining title....yeah right!!!

Upgraded to fairly confident! I think it's the years of seeing them develop a knack of turning winning situations into losses, it's a strange feeling. Similar to the feeling I had before Villa kicked off, never know what this 'optimism' is that i've heard people speak of before!

To add to the misery of Bears' supporters the weather forecast for Thursday evening is dire, rendering the rounders quarter final against Essex an even bigger lottery with heavy involvement from Messrs Duckworth, Lewis and Stern.
