Warwickshire all-rounder Chris Woakes, meanwhile, has revealed he remains a few weeks away from full fitness after a minor setback in his recovery from knee trouble.

The 26-year-old suffered his problem at the World Cup and has been sidelined since mid-March.

“I’m not far off, I had a second-team game last week, which unfortunately didn’t go as well as I would have liked,” revealed Woakes.

“So it will be another couple of weeks, but hopefully I’ll be fully fit pretty soon.

“I just need to get myself back fit for Warwickshire first, put in some performances there and then hopefully put myself in contention again for England.’’

Yep.  He is different class at county level.  Add Woakes and McCullum to that line up today and we would be looking very strong.

I think it's unlikely we will see Bell and McCullum for the Bears. By the time McCullum arrives in early July Bell will, subject to selection, be back with England.

He's certainly not played many T20 games for the Bears so today was a rare chance for him to play this form of the game for his county.

True and that's more the shame.  It's a pleasure watching the likes of Bell today and Buttler last night operate at that level.

Good win at Durham .Was good to see Ian Bell batting so well for the Bears. It was amusing to hear the reporter on WM telling us that Bell was not scoring fast enough ,yet he won the man of the match and became the highest scoring Bear in a T20 match

As predicted in last years Bears and Pears thread, coverage of local cricket in the Birmingham Mail has virtually disappeared since they got rid of Brian Halford.

Other than spending your time listening to Clive Eakin on the ball-by-ball coverage, there are very few places to get updates of injuries, selections etc. A poor show from an increasingly poor newspaper.
