Wow, what a special collection of people right there.

It takes a certain kind of person to film themselves committing criminal damage and then post it on social media. Window lickers.  Also, if another Villa fan sprayed me with a fire extinguisher he find it inserted in his rectum.

I've never read Successful Criminal Careers for Dummies, but I'm betting one of the first things in it is don't make it easier for the authorities to identify you.

The thing with our local derbies against the baggies and the blues is they are attended by local people I would say 95% from the west midland area, and the national media just don't get this fact

You can't compare that with a 'super Sunday' match between Man Utd v Liverpool where the fans are traveling in from Cheltenham and Guildford, having no real local knowledge only that of supporting their franchise team of choice

I remember the 03-03 game v Blues, it took the media by surprise, they had not seen anything like it, the atmosphere the physical brutality on and of the pitch,
same last night, it's the oldest derby in the world, it's not a convention for shrinking violets, it's all out there, in your face, it's going to be even more edgy when it's a quarter final

There was a lot of regrettable things happened last night, but the bottom line is it's a blood and guts local derby, the likes of the national media and TV people don't understand because it just doesn't take place al that often

If Southampton played Portsmouth or Sheffield Wed v Sheffield Utd in such an important game you would get the same sort of behaviour, your never going to put a lid on it

Yup, a lot of us have a moan about the how corperate and sanitized the game has become, its a bit rich to then further complain that it was a bit too passionate.

It was a great atmosphere.

A  somewhat lively thread, this one....

The atmosphere  was magnificent pre kick off and was the first time I can recall singing well before the game in ages. It petered out after 20 minutes as we produced a turgid first half reminiscent of Lambert, but the second half was like the old days of the ground rocking for big games. Chico and I did observe that the first Wembley related chant was on 55 minutes though.

The first pitch invasion was utterly ridiculous and could have even led to abandonment. The bloke who was baiting their keeper is a twat. From the upper Holte you could see it coming as the stewards and police were basically focused on ring fencing the Albion fans so the Holte / Witton Lane corner was pretty much free. We saw that there was a block of empty seats in the Witton End with. Few minutes to go and I reckon fans left there to sneak round and get into the corner where there was less control.

The post match pitch invasion was completely normal, part of the exuberance of going to Wembley. Not worthy of news at all.

Days like yesterday are the ones you remember until your dying day - the ground was rocking and we beat local rivals to get to Wembley, attacking the Holte in the second half to boot. I haven't enjoyed a home game as much in year.

Phil McNulty on the BBC website is a massive self righteous bell end as well, throwback to the dark ages?  Behave yourself I've seen worse in the NAAFI on a Friday night at closing time.

Nobody died, some Villa fans were hit by seats thrown by Albion fans, some Albion players got the piss taken out of them and probably got shouted at by some bigger boys at the end, but really was anyone fighting?  Did anyone even throw a punch or kick anyone, did anyone get knifed? Throwback to the dark ages, do fuck off Phil.

I'm pretty sure that the dark ages consisted of people regularly taking each other's ends, stabbings, darts being thrown, etc, not a few people running on to the pitch slightly prematurely.

Id imagine there wouldnt have been a pitch invasion against anyone else, the 'we know what we are'   stuff and 'there will be 5k Albion in the Holte' nonsense does tend to be seen as somethng to be challenged.

I didn't see anything intimidating and you used to see a lot of that

It all depends on the scale of any intimidation to McManaman or anyone else. That's the red line that would really reflect badly even if it was just one or two bell ends

It was a fucking great atmosphere though and I reckon most neutrals would have loved the second half

We need to keep that atmosphere going in our remaining home games

All of this week's shenanigans do show how much we care about ( beating) them, and our local pride.

I have been amazed by some comments about Albion being an irrelevance to us during the week. Yesterday reassured me.

A quick word of appreciation for Shay Given. A top performance yesterday and throughout his career at Villa he has been a proper professional, never heard to moan about his lot, always reliable when called upon and I would think, a positive influence amongst the players.

For those that my have questioned his contract and the wages contained therein, I think he has served the Villa very well and I hope he keeps his place for the semi-final.
